Harry Roberts has been freed

Yeah, cause he's only done nearly 3 times as long as the average murderer does inside (16 years apparently).

...mind you, would've thought you're going to be so institutionalised after that passage of time that you won't be able to deal with anything approaching normal life anyways ...

The used to be graffiti about him near blackwall tunnel in se London I was a kid...very early 70s . Think it was about being innocent. Dont know who he is though or what he was or wasnt innocent of.

That was George Davis. There's never been any ambiguity over Roberts' guilt.

He re-offended almost immediately, thus making those who had campaigned for his release look like twerps.
Not so,most people in the east end of the time knew Davis was a career crim. The problem was the filth were going around fitting up people for crimes they had nothing to do with.

If the police are so concerned about this release they could start an investigation into this:

Roberts had worked on day release at the animal sanctuary run by 65-year-old Joan but he forced her to drive him round and demanded she cook him breakfast every day. If her cooking did not meet with his approval, he would fly into a rage. After she and her son James complained, his day release was cancelled and he was moved from the open prison. The Cartwrights spoke to the parole board in confidence but Roberts suspected they were responsible for blocking his release. Joan says the threatening calls began “within minutes” of police telling her he had been moved to another prison.

“By the time the police had got to the end of the drive, Harry was on the phone spitting blood and spelling out what was going to happen to whoever was responsible,” she said. “He was going to have them torn limb from limb."

Attacks on animals at the sanctuary followed. A horse was slashed, another blinded with an iron bar, a cat was electrocuted, a peacock was strangled and a donkey was beaten so savagely it had to be put down.

If memory serves he was caught again within a few months backing out of a Barclays Bank with a bag of money in one hand and a sawn off in the other. Bang to rights.the G.D. Is innocent campaign was started cos he was fitted up by the Met.

Oh, that's ok than.

Nothing offensive ever happens in the terraces.

I didn't say it was against the rules, no more than the aforementioned criticism.

Then why dredge up a comparrison from another thread?

To illustrate the hypocrisy of people's positions.

If it's acceptable to make light of murder then reasoned, non offesnive and entirely on-topic, criticism of an opinion must be also.

Or it's hypocrisy.
