I am shitting giant bricks about that sort of stuff, and about a bunch of different flavours of racist horror that may find things to latch onto and feed off in this pandemic and its aftermath. If I had considered earlier that the thread could become about that wider subject then I may have been less of an arse on it.

Science is the only thing worth following or comitting your life to right now. Politics using a crisis like this is appalling. And as for Hungary I am pretty sure Orban was well known to be a cunt of a dictator before coronavirus became a thing.

As for the article quoted...it is based on 52 students. And no control. Actually its based on half that number using hand sanitiser before they answer a few questions. Way too many variables and no controls
And this is the problem. You cannot allow for human behavioural response to be predictable because you cannot control every variable.
26 students who used hand sanitiser and some of that number answered a series of questions slightly differently to the 26 who didnt use hand sanitiser? What the fuck? That's not a decent number at all. You'd need to have 1000s studied. And beforehand you'd need to pre-test them all without using hand sanitiser and then at a later date test them all with hand sanitiser....and see if attitudes had changed.
The study is not proof of hand washing or sanitiser having an impact on anyone bar killing germs...maybe. It is not scientific. It is observation based and the lack of control of variables in the students lives prior to them being tested renders it invalid in terms of the absolute definitives of the thread title.

In other words....humans are a lot more nuanced and diverse than this study of 52 students allows.
It's a disappointing flawed observational study. Did they ask how many of the 52 students had a breakfast that day? Or were stoned? Or hungover? Or had not completed coursework that day? How many had smoked before the questionnaire?
How many had walked to college as opposed to driven a car?
