Hackney chitter-chatter &tc

The lists circulating since the weekend seem to come with a higher chance of actual racist dickheads turning up. This seems very new.

Walthamstow was on the bigger list (via fashy chats on the Telegraph communications app). And so I dunno, but if people want to go to something then that is probably a better bet? (7pm, McDonalds, Hoe Street E17 - across the road from a lawyers firm that advises on immigration issues).

The road to hell paved with good intentions. Reckon half of this is intended to see anti-racists / anti-fascists kick off with cops
Yes I think the cops need to be seen to be doing something...

Also anyone can post a list of places, but what is missing here is a "risk assessment" of how likely the threat is - are racists actually organising something or not?

I think there are 2 lists, one for public consumption and one for what they're really up to, circulated in more restricted accounts. E2a @ists and socialists would fret about people getting nicked whereas I think fascists take a more relaxed attitude to run of the mill racists if they can divide af and cop resources

I'm sceptical about Walthamstow too tbh. I don't know it massively well so maybe I'm wrong but... 🤷‍♀️

A man has been arrested in connection with the shootings outside the Turkish restaurant in Dalston in which the little girl was injured.

I was thinking about that recently and wondering if the police had made any progress with identifying anyone.

The Metropolitan Police referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, but the Independent Office for Police Conduct told the Metropolitan Police to investigate the Metropolitan Police. The Metropolitan Police cleared the Metropolitan Police of any wrongdoing. A public complaint was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, alleging racism. The Independent Office for Police Conduct again directed the Metropolitan Police to investigate the Metropolitan Police ... but the Independent Office for Police Conduct, having "reconsidered" its decision, has now taken the complaint back to investigate ... independently:

This is the type of water pistol that Child X was playing with as he was rammed off his bicycle by the Metropolitan Police and threatened by police officers with real guns.

"In the light of the mother’s statement yesterday, and the concerns that have been expressed by the local community in Hackney and more widely, we’ve reconsidered our decision and will now investigate this independently."
It has been reported that the Metropolitan Police in Hackney have “further traumatised an already vulnerable" child who its armed officers mistakenly held at gunpoint in July 2023, and that the resulting "rapid safeguarding review” by the City and Hackney Child Safeguarding Partnership announced in October 2023 never actually began:

Police accused of ‘re-traumatising’ Black child after he was seized by armed police for having a water pistol

It's all going on outside Dalston Kingsland station. Went past this morning, and Hackney Anarchists had a stall set up and seemed to be giving away bagels. :hmm:

Just now, the HA have gone but there's another stall with big Palestinian flags and people doing a petition. Would've assumed it was the SWP but they were too young and the SWP are normally set up outside the shopping centre. Turned out if was the RCG who I've never seen round here before. Then another stall with big, red Che Guevara flags, campaigning for the release of political prisoners in Germany. Was given a leaflet but since it was in Kurdish?/Turkish? gave it back.

Still, more interesting than the usual religious types.
