Grime and DnB: what's with all the rewinds?

I need to have a look at this thread from a computer that doesn't block everything worth seeing/hearing! :D

Hornet
Signal
Another Planet
Slam ( :( )
X-Ray
Timewarp
Machete

All tunes from the last 10 years that got so rinsed I got sick of hearing them out, before I stopped going to DnB nights regularly.

Actually, that's a lie - still go mental to Signal. Also half of the best mashup i've ever done. Signal + Scissor Sisters 'Laura' acapella.
And the artists? :p

For my money this is the biggest 'drop' tune of modern DnB - would still definitely force a pull up on this!
G Dub - Forever VIP (Original Sin Remix)

Cheers! A mate of mine used to do d'n'b. he was half of cyantific. were they big?
its one bloke according to discogs (Jon)

Certainly used to be a duo/trio, but only one now obvs. Got reasonably large with some cracking tunes, but avoided the mainstream 'let's copy what everyone else is doing' stage, which I respected. Apparently whoever now DJs as Cyantific is bloody great as well.

Grindie is mid '00s indie meets grime. I haven't a clue what Grindle is. Does that actually exist?

Merk means to comprehensibly beat someone...

Grime seems to be fairly alive at the moment.... to be fair to it.

:p indeed.

Hornet - )EIB(
Signal - Fresh
Another Planet - Pendulum
Slam ( :( ) - Pendylols
X-Ray - Sub Focus
Timewarp - Sub Focus
Machete - Hazard

Big cheesy anthems basically. Drum n bass Whitesnake. Nothing wrong with that as it has its time and place but it doesn't really show dnb is still creative like OU was asking.:hmm:

Ah, I presumed that's what he was asking for - the big anthems that got repeatedly rinsed by everyone.

In terms of creative stuff, yes, there's loads, but most of them aren't the huge successes that everyone plays.

Talking DnB heres two vocal tunes i came across this week, post 2000 productions, both very classy rollers I think (have been looking for an excuse to share them)

especially like this one of the two
2002

2003

also the rewind is a good excuse for the dj to have longer to select another tune or mix one in
and go for a piss, bit of a puff or whatever

did a few myself tonight in the kitchen while having a rare blast on the decks, some because they were proper tunes and some for the intro and a break as mentioned above

This tune won Best Track (of the last 12 months) at the (fairly sus) DnB awards yesterday
DJ Hazard - Air Guitar

simple stuff, but shittier popular tunes have won in the past im sure

good tune though really and simplest always sounds biggest on a set - i imagine it regularly gets pulled inadidance!

I helped load in the soundsystem for this big dubstep night in Brighton a year or two ago... The warm up acts at the start of the night rewound every single tune they played, pretty much. Dicks. But then it was a dubstep night, what did I expect?!

i wouldnt judge amateur night on what a good dubstep night can be like....dont rule it out if you havent checked out digital mystiks or other deep medi related acts in session
