Grindie.
There was was period when police were clamping down on grime events, meaning prominent grime acts couldn't actually get any gigs. After the electroclash fallout, indie was getting big amongst the rich young trendies, and some enterprising promoters (Young Turks) started booking grime acts at their indie nights.
So you would get acts like Lethal Bizzle, Kano, Boy Better Know etc on the same bill as The Horrors, The Rakes etc. It was a very weird time. But quite an exciting one.
It spawned a short lived scene, where grime artists would spit rhymes over indie tracks and there were quite a few remixes and mash-ups going on. Even a few collaborative singles. Some enterprising journo came up with the imaginative name of 'grindie'.
It also spawned the grindie band Hadouken. An abomination that exists to this very day.
