Germany vs Turkey

frogwoman

No amount of cajolery...
What does everyone reckon the score will be? I will be (sort of) supporting Germany for this, they are an amazing team, especially Michael Ballack and Podolski! But Turkey have really impressed me aswell :D ... so I am not sure who I want to win, especially because Turkey are such an underdog.

I reckon the score will be 3-1 or 4-1 to Germany. How about everyone else?

That's the gut instinct isn't it? I doubt it will be quite that easy.

Wonder if Germany will go back to 442 if Frings has recovered?
I thought they looked more dangerous and almost spontaneous at times when they had Klose up front and at any given time one of Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Ballack and even bloody Mertesaker turning it on.

I also want Phillip Lahm to play for City.

I'm torn about this. Germany were my, not all too original, tip for the tournament but Turkey's heroism makes them the obvious choice. That heroic ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat will only be backed up on Wednesday by the fact that their single sub is a reserve goalkeeper who Terim is now seriously considering as an attacking subsitute.

I have placed a small bet on Turkey to draw or win in normal time, this is because I live near Dalston and the roads go berserk every time Turkey wins

As much as i would love the Türkiye team to advance, its really difficult to see past the Germans for this one i think.

Their previous experience, the ominous way that they've played their way into form, and the lack of bodies for the Turks would seem too much for me.

Let's hope for an entertaining match, but i reckon 3-1 Germany isn't unrealistic.

my mate the croupier reckons turkiye are nailed on for a draw at full time and a sneaky extra time win.

i don't know what to bet on tbh.......

Germany are a very tough side to beat.

I think the Turks will lose... the Germans play strong football and I don't think Turkey have the strength..

Think he may well be but Rafael Honnegstein (sp?) was saying on the Guardian podcast that the team are not all that happy with the idea of him playing because he's a bit slow and they've been better without him. He was suggesting the final decision may rest with Ballack.

I rated Frings highly in the World Cup but he has looked off the pace and they played much better with Rolfers and Hitselsperger (sp?) in there allowing Podolski, Ballack and Pigboy to do more damage.

You can't possibly see passed Germany in this.

Turkey have had an interesting tourney though...who knows.

Really looking forward to this. Despite all the hype about Turkey's players being banned and injured they can still put out a reasonably good team. Only problem being that they have no attacking options left on the bench and some rather green defenders at the back. Time for Kazim Kazim to step up?
