George Galloway Deported From Egypt

Deported from a nominally Muslim country? That must hurt George given his self professed popularity and status amongst Muslims.

Can't they keep him? We don't want him back here.

'Welcome back Mr Galloway' was probably not on the lips of the corrupt, vote-rigging, life long, Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, or his son Gamal.

Egypt has been under 'emergency rule' since 1981 and Mubarak's government has been denounced for it's lack of commitment to democracy, freedom and the rule of law.

UK politics would be less interesting and informative without Galloway.

Made me laugh....

Be the cat Georgie boy!
:D

The Egyptians being, historically at least, extremely fond of mogs and worshipping them as gods at one time. Something our feline friends have never really forgotten, methinks.

:D only in your fantasy life
"Georgeous George" features in no fantasy of mine. Clearly this isn't mutual if you think Mr Galloway's shambling performance after the initial rant was a success. :D

I particularly liked the US Democrat whom Mr Galloway casually accused of supporting the Iraq war ... said Democrat immediately pointed out that he'd voted against it, and continued his questioning about Iraqi oil deals. Watching Mr Galloway stumble and flounder when faced with an audience who knew their facts and answered back was a pleasure to behold.

wow, you really do live a fantasy life, or do you just hope every one else has a rubbish memory? It wasn't GG who stumbled or floudered, it was his opponenets, including the tit who, despite voting against the war, then voted for all the troops and money etc to fund it! A hypocrisy that Galloway had great pleasure pointing out.

Dont bother letting tedious things like 'facts' get in the way of your memories tho.

After he had to be corrected over the initial blunder. And hyporicy requires that you say one thing and do another. There's no contradiction in the (senator's?) actions, unless you're an iron bound idealist.

I remeber it pretty clearly, since I was hopped up on fashionable anti-Americanism at the time, and watched the whole thing in the expectation of seeing Mr Galloway give the senators a kicking. (Or jumping up and giving them a Glasgie kiss.) After his enjoyable rant, the lackluster evasions and mumbling was a real dissapointed, especially when he tried to hide from their allegations in supposed cofusion over currency conversion.

there were massive contradictions in the senators actions. that twat supported the wholsesale theft of iraqi oil by yank corporations, including evading those sanctions he was supposedly being questioned about breaking. levin was so corrupt even the iraqi pm, a pathetic US stooge, slated him!

Naah, no contradiction there at all.

As for the rest, well you can re-imagine whatever you like, but everyone else remembers mroe accurately. The senators couldn't land a punch on him, and he batted away their questions (somewhat pompusly, but hey, it is george galloway). So pathetic were the senators afterwards that they - both - whined about how they didn't believe him and they'd be calling him back for more questions which would finish him off.....but they never did. Cos they knew when they were beat.

Nasty bit of work, maybe, but this kind of stuff shows him in a good light.

As politicians go, he's a marvel.

;):D

Must be nice to get out for the holidays. :)

GG managed to bring some nice publicity to the cause, no-one else is doing as much....and Fed is probably hasty thinking that Egypt is any friend of the Muslims as a political entity.

And GG is back nicely in time for his show...which is on now. ;)

"its democracy is its form of democracy and they're entitled to their form of democracy .. blah blah arse lick blah blah .. !" ( the last bit i added btw)

now who is GG talking about? Israel Egypt or Iran? hmm

Not just G.G. doing something, there were around five hundred on the GAZA convoy.

This link covers some of the background of the events in Egypt, its a lovely place for anarchists and socialists, especially British ones to go for holidays, well recomended.

Viva Palestina Convoy Report http://northern-indymedia.org/articles/417

George was lucky not to be roughed up, it was only because he so well known that he wasn't.
But lets not talk about what happened and why there was a convoy, lets just talk about personalities.

Are you for real? Did you watch the same Senate hearing as I did?

I ask because in the footage I watched, Galloway wiped the floor with them. Rarely in my life have I seen such a blistering attack. It was an outstanding performance, by far the most powerful and damning testimony spoken by anyone over the Iraqi disaster.

Hey, don't take it from me listen for yourself.

Whatever one thinks of Galloway,(and yes some of his antics embarrass me too) the fact remains that he and the Palestina convoy delivered real medical aid against all odds to a people starving under the Israeli siege of Gaza.

They delivered and they delivered on more than one occasion. Instead of sniggering and enjoying the fact that Galloway was deported, everyone should be outraged that an Arab country, An Arab country, is actively complicit in the starvation of the people of Gaza.

Well done George, well done Viva Palestina, Long live Palestine.

gg in full effect
..
GG is the worst sort of leftist ... he supports the worst dictators in the world .. his support for Gaza does them little good in the long run however much we respect the participants in Viva Palestina ( which i do) VP bt is simply being used as an election tool in Tower Hamlets a borough with a large palestinian population

Surely most politicians have dodgy connections, though?

Agreed.

Phone his radio show, he'll answer, particularly if you're a first time caller.

Let me know when you're on, I could do with a good laugh right now.

what always fascinated me was in terms of Mariam Appeal his supported were some of the worst scum in the Middle East, Saudi and UAE businessmen .. as if this makes it OK ..this is NOT the politics of empowerment of socialist

btw the full senate hearing is here .. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1790388 the interesting stuff is at the end form about 30mins where gg is being asked questions by a Democrat who voted against the war .. the argument he uses quite clearly is " it doesn't matter that there were kickbacks or that i took money from nasty people as the cause was good" ( not a qoute a summary) this maybe be some sort of 'leftist' politics 4 the sort that supports pretty well anyone who is oppossed to western 'imperialism' but it is not a politics that will change the world for the better and specifically it does far more harm than good .. i know a lot of people, talk sport listeners, who were excited when GG joined TS but were quickly put off by much of this statist reactionary politics
