Why can't they just climb the pyramid? Or is there no link between Sunday football and non league?
The Saturday pyramid system is totally separate from Sunday football.

What's the betting SE Dons is the nickname for 24/25 and informally replaces the old name ahead of a formal name change for i25/26.

Logically they would have to join a Saturday league outside the National Leagues System, then work their way up, which is how Dorking Wanderers did it. Kent County League Division 2 West is probably the best they could hope for, which is two levels below Peckham Town and three below SCEFL1. Otherwise they'd be looking at the Bromley & South East London League, which feeds into the KCL. (Frankly I think they'd smash the KCL 2W with the quality of players they already seem to have, never mind any lower level than that.)

A few years ago the KCL refused admission to Bermondsey Town at the lowest level, claiming they were outside the catchment area or something. Bermondsey somehow got themselves directly admitted to the SCEFL 1 due to a vacancy existing, with no other club eligible to fill it through promotion from the level below, only to immediately get relegated into the KCL from the opposite direction.

And then immediately relegated again from KCL Prem to Div 1. Bermondsey Town are an example of how to make a big joke of the system that allows step 6 leagues to elect clubs.

The team takeover and name change a year later route is the other classic one, which SE Dons seem to be exploiting. They will do well at step 6 level I'm sure. How many Saturday players did they have playing for them last year? I wonder how many will switch to SE Dons now. Their keeper was playing for Croydon recently, so I presume he will switch.

It sounds like Liam Giles, who resigned as manager of Croydon at the end of last season after they won 2 cup finals and narrowly missed the play-offs, is lined up to be manager. Therefore I won't be surprised if the best Croydon players move across for a start, including ex-pro Ryan Hall, but I guess they may have a big enough budget to fish in a larger player pool.

I didn't realise that Hamlet old boy Andy Ansah is SE Dons Chairman. Andy got involved via his son, who was playing for them. Zak Ansah has played for a few Kent based non league sides over the years.

I'm fairly certain Andy Ansah never played for Hamlet. I've just checked his Wikipedia profile, which falsely states he played 20 matches and scored 8 goals in the 2000/2001 season, but that's bollocks. (That was the relegation season when Les Cleevely took over as manager from Dave Garland, then Gwynne Berry took over from Les.)

Actually I think you are right. I've confused him with Andy Cyrus...

To add confusion Andy Ansah was around the Hamlet occasionally . He was friendly with Dickson Gill, Gill's son used to wear a Southend shirt with Ansah on the back, which was a present from Andy. Thinking about it, I don't remember him playing.

He was a highly rated junior at Palace in the 80s but never made the first team, so I guess he knew Dickson from there. He ended up in non-league at Dorking while still a teenager and was sensational when I saw them in a Surrey Senior Cup match against Carshalton, which they unluckily lost 4-3. I think it was Brentford who first gave him another chance at professional level.

I thought SE Dons' plan was to move into Flamingo Park alongside Cray Wanderers? That's what it's said on the hoardings outside the past few years.

It was announced but then reportedly broke down. Bexley FC have already announced a groundshare there next season.

However SE Dons are playing a friendly against Cray suggesting relationships are cordial. If Bexley are on a one year deal I suspect SE Dons will move in for 25/26. The club they are taking over will already have declared a home ground for 24/25.

I thought he turned up in preseason one year but can’t remember which, if he did at all.

Interesting move from Carshalton Athletic, giving free admission to women. Whether this is actually legal is a matter of opinion as I believe that although EHRC includes the example of “ladies nights” in its guidance it’s never been tested in a court of law. Unsurprisingly it’s got a few comments from some individuals on their Facebook post. Carshalton Athletic FC

Got to be FHP at Ladywell think. The league AGM has been held and I believe they were confirmed as members and will have declared a ground. I suspect a name change, and probably a relocation, will follow next season. We shall see.

Hitchin Town had (still have?) an annual "Ladies Day" where one league game offered free admission to women and girls. Never any quibbles from even the more chauvinist regulars. Attendances usually were above average and the longer term trend has been for more female spectators at Top Field.

(It eventually stopped calling it the archaic "Ladies Day" - with pink teamsheets ffs - and tagged it as Women At The Game to offer support to that organisation.

Are the moaners on the CAFC page even CAFC fans or just random rent-a-snowflakes?

Yes turned up at Brentford in spring 1989, scored a couple of goals in a defeat at Bolton and then disappeared almost immediately. Popped up at Southend and promptly scored against Brentford iirc

Probably live locally & been to a couple of games a season if at all. Interesting how thinly veiled misogyny & transphobia permeates their responses.

The NLP reporting today that SE Dons will play under the Forest Hill Park name and play at the Ladywell Arena next season.
This whole episode surely raises the profile of the two local derbies with Lewisham Borough, who share Ladywell Arena and had begun to establish themselves as the stronger club on and off the field during the last couple of seasons.
