Is it walnut veneer or something else? If it’s something that looks like walnut veneer but isn’t then the buyer might not be happy.

Be honest if you’re not sure and just describe it as a wooden sideboard and state that it looks like walnut veneer to you.

My gf, who knows a bit about these things, says "fucking hideous" and, more helpfully, walnut veneer and 1950s.

It's not mine btw - my late uncles (presumably bought by my nan). I'm sure it will appeal to some retro hipster type :D
It's too good to go to the tip. Original 60s (I guess, maybe 50s) in mint condition
It has got a certain style to it tbf, someone out there will probably pay big money to ironically upcycle it :)

Is it wood veneer or Formica/Melamine?
Walnut effect top and doors and Birdseye Maple centre inset drawers.
Looking at the screw in round legs I’m saying early sixties. Perfect for those aiming for a Mod/Pre-Conran feel.

This may give you an idea of the ready market for such items.

Edit: Deleted wrong link.

whatever it is it isn't danish (and therefore won't sell for as much as if it was).

eta: my money's on melamine - the repeating patterns on the drawers match up perfectly...

The site said retro British and European furniture.
Sorry for being a bit slack.

it's just that you said it was a comparable market and being on ebay vs retail means it won't be and (my money's on - happy to be proved wrong) not being solid wood will also mean it fetches less.

am massive sideboard geek so couldn't keep my beak out ;)

Yes I am sorry if I came across a bit narky, not intentional. More annoying that I posted wrong site.

I worked in the ‘budget’ furniture manufacturing industry for over thirty years. MDF and chipboard is in my bloodstream. :)

no shade on budget furniture - anything older than me has my full respect :D but for resale value buyers mostly know a) looks (ymmv but imo it's not clean enough to fit the "danish" brief) and b) materials - if it *is* solid wood/veneer rather than printed material there's your value

paging Cid for final ruling :D

Does the square panel fold down? In which case put it up as a cocktail cabinet. It's nice, but there are loads around, and it's probably too subtle for most retro furniture fans.

It'd fetch more down south, and if you sort out shipping you'll get more bidders. I reckon it'll go for £20-30.

I love it - I have a soft spot for furniture of that vintage tbh, it reminds me a bit of a radiogram that we had when I was a nipper (I know it's a sideboard, but something about the shape and style of it just is reminiscent of that). And the walnut grain effect (whether fake or veneer or solid) is quite beautiful.

What I want know is whether that is your carpet and wallpaper.

No it's not!,:D
Now I agree that that is hideous, but my uncle's choosing. There was a red 3 peice suite with gold fleur de lis on it in that room too. It hurt my eyes. I think he'd spent too long in tacky Indian restaurants

I was almost tempted to 'shop out the background for you but the reflection of the wallpaper on the top turns it from a fun five minute job into a 'shit I don't know how to do this and not make it look entirely awful' type of job :(
