frock for black tie dinner

felixthecat

are we there yet?
Suggestions? You have the restrictions of size 22, 5'8", huge boobs and minimal budget. I'll consider anything that isnt green.

Off you go, urban fashionistas!

How much time is there? Are we talking a few days, a few weeks, or what?

I'm asking because there are places like light in the box where you can get special occasion dresses made to measure for under £100 but it takes a few weeks.

What about this one? Would look fab with either blonde or red hair:

Have you tried ebay? Useful for finding non standard range sizes and AFAIK a lot of people sell party/formal dresses there after wearing them just once.

Nice! And a bra could be worn under it without too much trouble.

EG - I'm glad you posted that one because I've already looked at it but in purple - liked it but wasnt sure! Think I like the blue better.

Chikky - both of those would make me look like a badly stuffed sausage which is a shame because they are beautiful - just not on me.:(

Does it matter that it's got a padded bust?
I think it's so it can be worn without a bra if the wearer prefers. This is one of the reviews, I picked it because the lady has a similar (slightly bigger) figure to the way felixthecat described hers:

Great quality for the price! I bought this as a standby as am getting an evening dress custom made for my wedding evening party, but actually it fits me perfectly and looks amazing, so might be one to wear anyway!! The colour is gorgeous. I got it in cream as well, which looks lovely and suitably bridal.

The quality of fabric and lining is lovely, the beading is elegant and quite secure. The ruched elastic around the back feels a little fragile so I'm careful not to stretch it putting it on, as it might snap, but it's fine on.

I bought the size 24and I'm 5 foot 7, the length is perfect especially in heels but I could wear flats. I have a larger bust (42E) and this fits fine, and because it has built-in cups it supports enough without a bra, which is good as my strapless bras don't plunge deep enough and can be seen at the front.

I'm guessing that with huge boobs being able to wear a bra is a must.
Unless the dress has very good engineering from the waist upwards (boning, well lined and interlined, not to mention very strong seams) yes.

that is fairly similar to the dress I got for a formal dinner last year.

but I did a slightly different route to buying one, i started checking out second hand monsoon formal dresses about 3 months before the do, and I ended up getting 2 dresses and picking the one I felt looked slightly better. i chose monsoon cause there are always loads of their formal dresses on ebay, cause they are well made enough to not fall apart after being worn once, and cause IME, unlike a lot of other manufacturers, they also size up the bust.

my 2 dresses ended up costing me under £15 in total.

I'm a fan of Alexon - really good solid construction, generous sizes not cheap but they have lots of sales...

I don't think you're in London, Felix, but if you are, head up to Fontill Road in Finsbury Park - loads and loads of posh frocks in bigger sizes and silly cheap sometimes.
