Friday 8/6 Poland v Greece, Cz Rep v Russia

Sounds like ITV made the mistake of having an open air studio in a main square just after Poland played?!

Hmmm if they're in Krakow it looks like somewhere I've been! There's an Irish pub with a photo of Gerry Adams on the wall right behind them if it's the same place!

Not as bad as my last bet - Poland and Russia to win! (I also have a cheeky £1 each way bet at 80/1 for Arshavin as top scorer!)

This is pretty Damn entertaining so far too. The football at the euros is usually better than world cups... got a bet on russia too :)

My biggest fear now is that Dzagoev will get signed for Spurs, where he will never score again. Seems to be the usual pattern at the Euros.

Good stuff from Russia. Fast incisive breaks. They've reminded me of what I liked about them last time.

Just no final ball from the Czechs. But there's really only two teams in this group - totally different level in this game.

Gotta think Russia might go a long way this time. Same players as four years ago, more or less...

Been a good day for blasts from the past. Not seen Baros for ages.

Played some lovely football at Euro 2008,performance against a good Dutch team in the quarters was one of the highlights of the tournie

Indeed they did. Not heard anyone talking about them as potential winners, but they could be a good outside bet.
Funny how they've never made a huge impact on a major football tournie considering their huge population and their sporting pedigree, remember them getting to the '88 Euro final and thats about it,missed out on loads of WC finals as well.Never been considered a major footballing power either.

The USSR won the first European Championships in 1960, were runners up in 64 and 72 and reached the semis in 1968, so were pretty good then.

Plus the USSR reached the quarter finals of the World Cup four times running between 1958 and 1970, finishing fourth in 66. So were certainly considered one of the best teams in the world for 24 years and had the best goalkeeper in the world with lev Yashin during most of that period.
