Former players...

H

He's been starting every game for a team pushing hard for promotion, so I imagine he'll keep playing. Martin Eede signed him for Hamlet in 2005 and he was our captain for two seasons, so he must be at least 40 by now. (Peter Adeniyi was 43 last month and is still regularly on the bench for Merstham, with occasional starts.)
I’m 58 and still playing so if these youngsters can’t hack it… 😆

Jamie Splatt has joined Leatherhead permanently.
Disappointing to lose a homegrown player. I thought he showed all the necessary qualities for National South in his half dozen league starts for us. He was around the first team squad for 3 or 4 years, yet both Rose and now Barnes seem to have had reservations about picking him more often. I noticed on Saturday his squad number had gone to the new loanee, although I think we'd already announced he would be at Leatherhead until the end of the season.

It was his choice as he made an official request to leave and join permanently according to the Levred statement. That we agreed so readily I find disappointing but maybe it shows the corner the club seems to have painted itself into, with future talent sacrificed for “deadweight” players that we’re led to believe the manager and the club don’t want?

Whilst it's disappointing he's gone because I think he was starting to show signs of developing into a half-decent player for us, there's no point in keeping players who don't want to be at the club. Good luck to him.

Feels like Barnes is willing to consider moving on most of the squad he inherited if it means he can free up some budget and perhaps be allowed to bring a player or two in. Surprised Splatt's dropped two levels, though, he looked a better player than that.

Will be interesting to see if Hill comes back from Hemel. He was named captain for their win against Farnborough on 31st January, then missed the last game of his initial month loan spell on Saturday. I'd take him over Vint at the moment in a heartbeat.

Barnes at least sees them in training so knows how puts in effort, looks after themselves and can follow instructions. I'm not saying this was the case with Splatt (although I do note the Harris Sealey red card above), but he does get to see them more than we do.

It's a hard gig being the Hamlet number 2 keeper. Charlie is such a great goalie it seems harsh when a youngster is brought in as they're not really going to play too often unless they are exceptional. Probably better suited to a veteran who is perhaps doing their badges and is as a player/coach.

Sadly it's not really worked out for Jamie anywhere else since Wolves recalled him.

He had a handful of games at Mansfield but was then released by Wolves. After a period without a club, he signed a short term contract at Grimsby but didn't make the team. Presumably the contract wasn't renewed. He was on the bench for Larne last weekend. He needs to start playing for someone, he's 22 now.

Ade Yusuff gone to Hornchurch
Undisclosed fee but Folkestone happy with the figure paid. He was under contract for 2 years and has 25 goals this season, so Hornchurch seem to be splashing the cash in their quest to reach our division.

Harsh, but I think I may have solved the mystery:
Welcome to the subtle world of player approaches in the London Women’s Saturday League. After playing for Goal Diggers against Lambeth All Stars last week before I’d even had a chance to shake hands with the opposition players, the Lambeth manager asked if I’d like to join them! Actually still find it hard to believe but was approached by two clubs playing in Tier 7. Not bad for an old girl!

Reise Allassani played for VCD Athletic today along with his brother Andrew, who appeared for Hamlet in a few pre-season matches in 2018.
