I attempt this every month, Sometimes it works, sometimes you get caught out. So thought it might be fun to do it live in a thread.

The rules are.. Start with £20, You make 1 bet per day at very short odds, Almost dead certs. Every bet you are going all in. Bets should be placed at odds of 1.05 to 1.10 (anything below 1.05 is not really worth the risk).

Bets can be made before the event, but often you can get a good prices in play. e.g backing the winning football team after 85' mins

If I make it 30 wins in a row, I can turn my £20 form anything into £150 to £200. (pays for a month food shop :D )

Below shows how the money will accumulate assuming I get odds of 1.07 (on betfair).

£20
1 1.07 £21.40
2 1.07 £22.90
3 1.07 £24.50
4 1.07 £26.22
5 1.07 £28.05
6 1.07 £30.01
7 1.07 £32.12
8 1.07 £34.36
9 1.07 £36.77
10 1.07 £39.34
11 1.07 £42.10
12 1.07 £45.04
13 1.07 £48.20
14 1.07 £51.57
15 1.07 £55.18
16 1.07 £59.04
17 1.07 £63.18
18 1.07 £67.60
19 1.07 £72.33
20 1.07 £77.39
21 1.07 £82.81
22 1.07 £88.61
23 1.07 £94.81
24 1.07 £101.45
25 1.07 £108.55
26 1.07 £116.15
27 1.07 £124.28
28 1.07 £132.98
29 1.07 £142.29
30 1.07 £152.25

(*does not factor in Betfair's 5% commission)

The Golden rule is 1 BET PER day. Lets see how it goes!.

2 teams with defensive problems, but quality up front. Should be a goal at least. Thinking Jose will put out a strong side too.

Unless you are betting in play it's actually hard to find odds quite so short. There is a Twitter account that tries to make £1000 starting with £20 too but it takes more risks. I've never followed the bets but it clicks quite a bit. I'll try find it and post it here for lulz.

It's @TennerToAGrand in case anybody is interested.

Me and 2 mates have a rotating £20 bet every week and pool the profits for a banjo at the end of the football /NH Racing season. You bet how you like on what you like. The only rule is you don't count the initial £20 stake you have to put in every 3 weeks. Good fun and twice we've have a serious amount of money in the pot

Bet 3

Man U v Middlesbrough - Man U to Qualify. £22.40 @ 1.2

Remember Middlesbrough's last cup exit.. 14-13 penalty shoot-out loss to Liverpool.

Well done so far. Will be monitoring this one tonight.

Also, a question: can you have a day off tomorrow, since a win here more than doubless your 1.07 target? Or does it give you breathing room for very low odds on subsequent days?

I'll keep to the 1 bet a day strategy, unless i can't find anything I fancy. But picking up the odd 1.2 or 1.25 means you'll hit your target quicker. But don't be tempted by the price. E.g backing Arsenal to win last night.!

I know. I never bet on "bigger" teams in the League Cup any more, since - especially in the earlier stages - they often put out below full strength sides. It doesn't look as if van Gaal is doing this, however, although he is starting with Brazilian teenager Pereira.

Middlesbrough always do well in cups, and we beat Man City last year before that Liverpool game. I think Manu will be too much for us, but we're even stronger this season.

I'd have chosen something more nailed on if I was you. ;) Hoping your little betting experiment comes to an end tonight

But I can't bet against my beloved Crystal Palace!

Actually I was going to, but City are without Aguero, David Silva and Fernandinho. And the price was only 1.14

I did have a good think about this one, but Boro have been eliminated in five of their last six League Cup meetings against Premier League opposition and Utd have never lost a 4th round tie at home. Kind of sealed it for me. (famous last words! )

I had a little fiver on Palace because of all of City's injuries and it's a massive 7/1. Also had a bet on the United Liverpool double.

Balls, Fair play to Boro. When i heard they had 10,000 plus fans at old trafford, i had a bad feeling about this one. SHould have waited for the starting lineups really before betting.

Will start again tomorrow, with a fresh £20.

one of the more esoteric betting targets is the murder trials in foreign countries. Its fucked up, but late stage capitalism ennit. I imagine you can only make money if you know the language and have some understanding of the legal system you are betting on a trial within.
