Fire bulls: Spain's indescribably cruel animal torture 'tradition'

There is a Spanish equivalent of the RSPCA i think but it seems the people who organise these events have a lot of power, especially on town councils
 
And another "traditional" activity ... bull running is quite widespread but is still abhorrent,
The best known "festival" is probably Pamplona, but there are many others, and they usually precede a bull-fighting "festival"


And, as usual, there's a human cost in excess of the poor treatment / risk to the bulls.

Yep.
 
Very much a regional thing. And the animal rights org’s are very vocal with frequent protests. I witnessed a very gory one in Barcelona last year.
