Festival Essentials ??

We're horribly obsessively sorted when camping anywhere. another top tip is a watering can, if it's sunny put it outside next to your tent inside a black bin bag, it will get nice and warm, sometimes hot for a shower.

So we're off to bestival in a couple of weeks and its my first festival in a long time. So to all you festival types whats your best hints and tips and what items would you not think of going without?

Will you be in your car? Or have a rucksack? If you have a rucksack forget the mattress, and probably the watering can.

HTH :)

erm, even if you are in the car I'd give the sprung mattress and watering can a miss, theres a fucker of a hill at Bestival between the car parks and the camp site. Take only what you need, ask yourself:

"Is it warm?"
"Is it waterproof?"
"Is a needed hygene product?"
"Will it get me fucked off my face?"

If you cant answer yes to at least one of these then leave it at home.

Nah we're on foot, But we have a tent organised for us as part of a package deal thing. Turn up and its all set up and ready to go. Hopefully :)

It seemed like a good idea and this way we just have to take our clothes and a few other bits and bobs. i also discovered a small camping stove in my dada garage the other day, is it worth taking do you think? just for teas and coffee in the morning like.

Not for me but loads of people do. If you are a big tea / coffee drinker then its probably worth it otherwise you'll spend shit loads at the cafes. I couldnt be bothered with the extra weight personally.

I could take a watering can to Creamfields...

But I've opted to pay £85 more and have

A free parking space (value £10 prebooked)
Proper toilets (not portaloos)
Proper showers
2 meals
VIP access area
Fast track entry

£85 ain't no small amount but at this festival worth it I thinks.

Camping is the only part of our lives which is organised. We've even got a large plastic storage box full of all sorts of little essentials which is permanently ready to pick up and go.

This, can bring bacon for bacon butties in the morning as well. Its amazing how much just doing that will save you and the bacon you can bring will be so much nicer than what you can buy for 4 quid.

You can even light disposable BBQ's to cook but they must be off the ground. If not I'll be over telling you off.

Personally I just bring a bed, cooker, fridge, loo, two tables, few chairs, china plates knives and forks, quite a few mugs and glasses, small drinks cabinet, sink, draining board, mains electricty, huge tent...

I mean how could you live without all those essentials. :p

Why would you want to? What's wrong with home comforts? Makes camping anywhere blummin' lovely :) no need to slum it wherever you're living no matter how long.

:p

Don't forget that, unlike milk, Baileys doesn't go off and tastes great in your morning coffee. ;)

He isn't wrong there. 2008 it did for many people, esp the well loaded.

I just took shit loads of stuff to Creamfields. Promised free barrows were fucked up. We had to lug it miles. Bleeding killed us and messed up the start to our festie.

I'm packing light next time.

Why bother with a watering can when a solar shower packs up small and does the job far better?

I can't beleive nobody has mentioned "ticket" on the list of essentials. I find them rather useful! :p

Bin bags
Bog roll
Gaffer tape
Baccy, skins, lighters
Booze, drugs, ticket and cash
biscuits and cake :)

After shambala an all in one waterproof is definately on my agenda for next year...... working a 6 hour shift in the pissing rain was horrid.

I still have the ambition to be able to travel as light as the guy "camped" beside me at one festival a few years back but my aching/destroyed joints are still putting the kybosh on any festivals for me FTM.

His entire festival kit appeared to be a large bottle of spirits, a fair sized bag of very decent grass and a plastic tarpaulin - and he seemed to remain remarkably clean and tidy the whole time, so I suppose he must have had a razor and a bit of soap in there somewhere?

Some good stuff on this thread

Sorry for bumping a thread that contains relevant information

Am getting a few snack/food bits for a festival. Here is the list so far:

Peperami
Pot Noodles
Cereal Bars
Tinned Stuffs

Any other suggestions?
