Fave horror films?

krtek a houby

Anger is Hi-NRG
The Descent (Best British horror in years)
Audition (what's in the bag?)
Wolf Creek (truly disturbing)
The Baby's Room (Spanish short horror flick - on again over xmas)
Suspira (great soundtrack)
Alien (it's all about sex)
Carrie (Brian de Plasma's best)

There's prob a billion others I should list. What sends shivers down your spine?

Audition :( That was full on...

In the Mouth of Madness. Sam Neill's finest. Better than Event Horizon by far.

The Wicker Man (as per DotCom, the original)
The Evil Dead
The Thing (not the original)
From Beyond
Reanimator
The Exorcist
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Straight to Hell
The Shining

Some Hammer films and anything with Vincent Price in it too. Apart from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I don't like really sadistic horror films. More into stuff that's a bit camp and OTT.

Omen
American Werewolf in London
Dark Water (Japan)
The Devil's Backbone
The Others
Candyman
In The Mouth of Madness

Do things like The Others count? For me it was one of the scariest films I've seen, but it wasn't at all gory, so possibly doesn't count as horror? More a ghost film?

Candyman is a deceptively good film. I expected it to be a bog-standard Friday 13th/Nightmare on Elm St type slashfest, but I found it to be considerably more intelligent than that.

Other than those already mentioned:

Don't look now
Rosemary's baby
Ringu
Theatre of Blood
Hammer's Karnstein trilogy (lesbian vampires!)
The serpent and the rainbow
The Haunting
