European Athletics 2014

Just watched Jo Pavey win the 10,000m. Brilliant tactics and a wonderful final 600m
That has to be up there with one of the best races I've ever seen. The fact that she has usually been the bridesmaid, but never the bride; she is only a year and a half younger than me; she only gave birth last year and was still breastfeeding until this April and lastly, by all accounts, she's a thoroughly nice person.

I had a good cheer when she was coming down the home straight!:)

Some good performances tonight, Tiffany Porter and then James Dasaolu and Harry AA :)

Also thought Matt Hudson-Smith qualified well for the 400m, he is a talent to watch I think.

The French steeplechaser wuz robbed. He ran an excellent race, thrilled us with it, then showboated a bit on the final straight.

For that, he was seen to have brought the sport into disrepute and disqualified from what what would have been a unique achievement: winning the same European event three successive times.

It's a sad time when the rules can be 'interpreted' to favour the rules and not the athletics...:(

Agreed. I do think the shirt off thing is a bit dickish, whether it be footballers or athletes, but taking his medal is fucking stupid. As mentioned in this...

... an irony is that a Spanish athlete who failed a drug test 11 months ago now gets a medal (pretty shitty of the Spanish to appeal full stop).
