I think it's one of those where it's about who touched the ball when.

de Sousa was offside when the ball was played, but it went to Vinicius Jr. de Sousa was then back onside by the time he touched it to score.

As far back as I can remember England have always had a world class striker, who's basically the first name on the team sheet: Lineker, Shearer, Owen, Rooney, Kane. I think Shearer probably had the best stand-ins (Ferdinand, Fowler, Cole, etc).

I don't have much of an opinion right now. I guess the next two games will see whether Southgate made the right call. I'm sad not to see Rashford included as I like him but nobody can argue he's in his best form right now.
