Euro 2022

Think I'm right in saying we'd meet either Spain or Denmark in QF - neither of which have looked particularly convincing so far
Spain looked pretty good in their opener. If not for a goal even Loris Karius found embarrassing who knows how yesterday would have turned out.

Couple of very good goals in quick succession

Can you pass your tickets on to other people for the games you're missing?

In theory, I think so. So if anyone wants a ticket to France v Belgium in Rotherham tomorrow, lemme know!

Not sure what to do about Friday at Southampton, as holding out for the slim chance I'll be negative by then, but if not I think I've got quite a few mates who would be interested, so gotta work out... I dunno, something!

Ahhhh, shite.

As I said after their first match, I sided with Portugal partly out of solidarity with their short 'keeper, and it's hurt 'em again.

She was in the right place, just couldn't reach the ball to tip it over :(

Ok, well, that really wasn't very good defending at all from the Portuguese... :(

Ye cannit have an opposition player arriving unmarked on the penalty spot.

Buuuuuuuut, hopefully offside.... (sorry, Dutch  :D )

Sarina Wiegman out with covid. Could throw England into turmoil before tonight’s match. Which was predicted to be the most one sided in the competition, 2% chance of an iron win, 4% for the draw

I swear, I was nowhere near her in Manchester! :hmm:

In the meantime, I guess if we're being all about 'fairness' or whatever then sure, then I suppose it was 'right' to overturn the penalty

;)

Well, that was interesting.

Daly went down after a bit of a swing 'n' miss volley in the area; the game carried on, no-one was screaming for the ball to be put out of play, but when England got the ball back both teams just basically waited for Daly, who had since got back to her feet, to limp back into position. Honestly not sure I've seen that before!

Fucking hell, every time I start to type a post commending Northern Ireland's defence, they go and bloody concede!

Shame about the deflection, but brilliant touch to set herself up for it.

Austria looking pretty good v Norway and just taken the lead
Thought being 1-0 down and needing to score minimum of 2 goals would encourage Norway to actually attack a bit in the second half but not really happened so far, Austria still very composed and having the much better chances

Assuming France win their group, then they can't meet England until the final.
Yeah, but who are the favourites? Spain and Portugal have both dropped the ball. England look to be second only to France atm, but England haven't faced the toughest of teams.

According to the bookies, England are favourites, followed by Germany then France. I’m not really sure anyone has faced really tough teams, Germany v Spain should have been, but for that ludicrous opening goal. Netherlands v Sweden another that should have been, but was actually a bit disappointing. All the scandiwegian teams have been a bit disappointing this tournament.

A quarter v Spain and a semi v Netherlands should be a good gradient for the final. France b Germany will be a cracking semi

"There's no diving in the women's game", eh? :hmm:

Blatant from the first replay.

To be honest, even in real time I thought it was harsh as the 'keeper clearly saved the shot!

Really enjoyed the Switzerland v Netherlands match, annoying 90th minute VAR nonsense aside, very end to end and with Netherlands deserving the victory although by a bit of a harsh scoreline on the balance of the game as whole.

Won't give the Iceland France score but Iceland playing really well.

I do like the atmosphere at these games, less aggression than mens' football and all seems good humoured.
