A provincial court judge in Prince Rupert, B.C., has sentenced a 46-year-old man to a year in jail for contempt of court, ruling he tried to circumvent the justice system with "pseudo-legal'' and "stupid'' arguments.

His first trial date was set for Sept. 3, 2021, but Hardy wasn't allowed in the courthouse when he refused to wear a mask.

At the time, the judge asked him over the phone if he had a letter from a doctor confirming he was unable to wear a mask for the short walk between the courthouse entrance and the courtroom where the trial was scheduled.

"I don't need another man or woman's permission to breathe,'' Hardy replied. "I have been breathing my entire life on my own.''

Carlson’s departure from Fox News appeared to be sudden. As of Monday morning, Fox was still previewing his show that evening, where he was set to interview Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy. Carlson’s last show on Friday ended with the host eating pizza and saying “we’ll be back on Monday”. Justin Wells, Carlson’s executive producer, is also leaving the network, Semafor reported.

Fox host Harris Faulkner addressed Carlson’s departure on air Monday morning, saying the network and Carlson had “mutually” agreed to separate. “We want to thank Tucker Carlson for his service to the network,” she said.

Carlson is leaving the network less than a week after Fox settled a defamation lawsuit with Dominion voting systems for $787.5m. Filings in the case featured scores of vulgar text messages from Carlson in which he said he “hated [Donald] Trump passionately” and called Sidney Powell, a lawyer for the former president who was spreading false election information, a liar.

“We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait,” he wrote in one text message in January 2021. “Sidney Powell is lying by the way. I caught her. It’s insane,” he wrote in another text message in 2020.

I think he's hinting that homeless people are evil (well "dog whistling"). Let's take him at his word that making policies that create disorder are evil, then we can safely say that the Republican party is evil. It's mostly their policies that have created the levels of homelessness we see in the US. Reagan's dismantling the mental healthcare system and his economic policies are largely responsible. And if they'd favor policies that provided affordable housing instead of tax cuts for the rich, we'd be able to better deal with homelessness in the US.

I've been watching GB News on Youtube. They seem to me like the Brit version of Fox News. I lost of a lot of respect for Neil Oliver, who I've seen narrate BBC documentaries. I didn't realize he was such an absolute nutter, complete with antisemitism and anti-vax conspiracy theories.

I used to quite like Neil Oliver doing Coast and other documentaries too. I don't think he was a full on loonspud when he did those. Not sure what went wrong.

Maybe he was always like that, or maybe like Fox, he was challenged on an ignorant comment, doubled down and became consumed by his stances.

Whatever the case, Coast is hardly an obvious platform to advance loonspud views. Which is why we didn't realise?
