Poe's law. I put in the @address but no such account. Still ...

I genuinely believe the modern international conservative movement is psychopathy in a political form. Forget the rhetoric and look at the outcomes.

The recent Q anon podcast referred to a 1990s book by two libertarian arseholes which talked about the future that the internet could bring. The book cheerfully suggested that ithe internet would allow the proliferation of misinformation and that a whole alternate reality could be created, with as much realism as the actual world

And that is what we have now. People's online lives (and TV too) can be completely within a bullshit right wing sphere where everything they are shown supports their distorted view and anything contrary is condemned as fake.

Including Jacob Rees-Mogg's dad iirc.

Sounds like it was a pretty prescient book tbf, although grim.

There was a rather interesting programme about this on Radio 4 recently:

Hahahaha

The result was a half-mile wall with a gate that was required to remain open during the day and only forced immigrants to walk around the structure.

:D

Tennessee lawmaker cites Hitler as a role model:

A Tennessee Republican wants the state’s unhoused population to draw inspiration from Adolf Hitler. No, seriously.

While debating a bill on Wednesday that would criminalize homeless camps on public property in the state, State Sen. Frank Niceley (R) decided to share with the chamber “a little history lesson on homelessness.”

That lesson: Hitler was homeless for a spell, too, but by golly, then he pulled himself up by his bootstraps and “went on to lead a life that got him in the history books.”

Here is the full quote:

I wanna give you a little history lesson on homelessness. In 1910, Hitler decided to live on the streets for a while. So for two years, Hitler lived on the streets and practiced his oratory and his body language and how to connect with the masses. And then went on to lead a life that got him in the history books. So, a lot of these people, it’s not a dead end. They can come out of these homeless camps and have a productive life, or in Hitler’s case, a very unproductive life. I support this bill.

What kind of informational bubble do you have to live in to cite Hitler as a good example? There's video in the link, and it appears that no one around him even raised an eyebrow. I'm not certain that means they just were not listening, or if they just didn't care.

BTW, the bill they're debating would make sleeping rough a felony.

Here's the Tennessee bill they were debating:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee lawmakers are close to sending Gov. Bill Lee a proposal that would threaten felony penalties against homeless people who camp on local public property, including in parks.

The Tennessee Senate voted 20-10 Wednesday to advance the bill, with four Republicans joining Democrats in opposition.

The House has already passed a version of the legislation, and both chambers need to hash out differences in what they approved.

The bill also introduces a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a $50 fine and community service for camping along highways, including under bridges or overpasses, or within an underpass.

This appears to be well on its way to being law in Tennessee. It's already passed both their House and Senate. All it need now to become law is for the two chambers to reconcile the differences, have that approved, and then send it to the governor for signature. They appear to have both the votes and the governor's signature. Cruelty, does indeed, appear to be the point.

Wow, that's pretty special, even for Tennessee. If they were debating a marriage bill, I wonder if Nicely would decide to tell the inspiring story of a certain lifelong bachelor who got married on the last day of his life.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone could be arsed to dig through Tennessee house debate transcripts, if this wasn't the first time he mentioned Hitler and his "accomplishments."

😵‍💫💪

You may be a man, but are you a real man? The kind of guy who wrestles his jacked friends and throws giant tires? The sort of guy who milks cows and chugs glasses of raw eggs, just because? No? Well, do you want to be?

Twitter says Carlson can’t tan his balls because they’re stored in a thimble on Vladimir Putin’s desk.

I found some footage:

Not a joke. This is really it.
