England vs USA

Well, we may not have been too encouraged by our performance against Mexico, but we did better than Italy.
Carlos Vela and Alberto Medina helped Mexico to a surprise 2-1 win over World Cup holders Italy in their warm-up encounter in Brussels.

Arsenal striker Vela collected a pass from Geovani and was given space to pick his spot with a drive from 12 yards after 16 minutes.

Ten minutes from time substitute Medina beat Italy's offside trap, and from a tight right angle beat goalkeeper Guinluigi Buffon with a shot.

Italy pulled one back in the 89th when defender Leonardo Bonucci scored from close range after Salvatore Bocchetti had hit the post, but it was too little too late for the Azzurri.
 :D

Other recent results include Tunisia 1 - 1 France; Spain 3 - 2 Saudi Arabia; and Spain 1 - 0 South Korea.

Just keeping things in perspective ;)

Saw abit of the spain game today, the winning goal was great, nothing to do with the swerve of the ball i dont think. They had to wait till 84mins to get it though.

Not that I know anything about football, but to me this is the "must win" game of the group. England shouldn't lose, but there's always upsets in any competition. They need this one in the bag. And I'm sure, if USA have any ambitions, they're thinking the same.

Emile Hesky - England centre forward.

58 international appearances and 7 goals

Rene Higuita - Columbian Goalkeeper (he of the scorpion kick)

68 international appearances and 8 goals

Jose Luis Felixe Chivert - Paraguayan Goalkeeper

74 internatioanl appearances and 8 goals

Put Heskey in goal :D

Five more sleeps....

I saw a few American players on the news, acting like they're the underdogs. Very fucking humble they were. It's a tactic and I hope Fabio will make it clear that we have to give it 100% to beat these colonial chaps.

Yes, Capello is very unpredictable.

Quite formidable wide set up though.... A Cole & Joe Cole on the left.... and Johnson & Lennon on the right.

Heskey and Rooney up front with Gerrard and Lampard behind them.

obviously capello experimented with lennon on the left but i'd much rather have one of our most potent weapons in his usual position rather than having him swap to have swp on the right.

this week's going to go slowly :(

I'lld rather have milner on the right, joe cole on the left.

England to win 2-1.

Without any bias, if the American players were in the Premiership and were English, would Fabio choose them to play in the England squad? Even Donovan wouldn't get into Capello's team.

I'm not saying that the game will be easy, but on paper the Americans are at a significant disadvantage. They may have elevated their form recently, but like Greece it won't last.

dempsey perhaps, i've been hugely impressed with him. but your point is valid, let's hope it works out like that :)

Of course, Greece have won a tournament lately, even if hardly any of them would get a game in the Premiership.

Almost makes you think there's more to it.

We'll start shakily, the half time commentry will say say as much and then we'll improve in the 2nd half with a few moments of "real quality" winning the game for us ;)

The USA are gonna score though - I reckon either 2-1 or 3-1 to England!
