Early 00's Pop R&B/Dancehall/Hip-Hop Bangers

Left wing turkish marxist band singing about honour killings, of all things.

Shame Karaca became a reactionary cunt in his later years and reconciled with the Gülenists. All that he supposedly opposed... :mad:

I can't remember if I or anyone else has already posted this, but an excellent example of this era's use of south Asian sampling and instrumentation;

You heard this Orang Utan?

Original is where it's at. I'll still be puzzled as to why they got villalobos to do a remix tbf.

Because a bit of Ricardo plink plonk over most things sounds The Fucking Bollocks (This included, though ethnicy-chanty stuff probably has much better competition, and reached saturation a good few years ago)

For some reason, this cropped into my head today, despite not having heard it for at least five years. It stands up quite well as a piece of crunk-tinged R'n'B.

I was reading an article this week that was making the case that 2000s rap is The golden age (not early 880s/90s)....the article gave a lot of prominence to Cam'ron... so I went on a bit of a Camron youtube crawl....

This was probably his biggest tune of which i knew

...turns out he was part of a crew called Diplomats (aka Dipset) ,,, didnt know about them at all...i watched this Dipset freestyle and he is really talented...yeah, as with pretty much all his tunes the lyrical content is nothing deep, often slack, but the word play, delivery, flow, etc etc is really as good as it gets

Camrons verse is that last one....

Supposedly he ghost wrote a lot of lyrics for Def Jam (according to the youtube comments)

I think this was produced by Timbaland at his peak, and uses the same hook as Panjabi Hit Squad's excellent Hai Hai:

ive trawled through all the Neptunes productions :facepalm:
best one Ive found I hadnt heard before is this
Beenie Man and Janet jackson
