This might be sacriligious to some, but I wouldn't mind playing this with updated graphics so that the creatures are a bit more distinct.

They did a free to play version recently. Nice graphics but somebody calculated that if you didn't pay anything you would finish digging out a basic dungeon in Jan 2015.

You can just press Alt-R and that makes it higher resolution too.
