Dulwich Hamlet vs Stonewall FC (Friendly) 11th Feb 2015

Er, did this happen?:

It’s not every day at a football match you see a pitch-side conga of women dressed as drag queens embracing topless beefcakes waving rainbow banners emblazoned with the words “Football fans against homophobia"

It seems a bit unnecessary to camp it up like that tbh.

I dont think that is about our game.... he was saying you dont see that at games in general..... thats how i read it

I think its a great article and I am sure as with all articles, there has to be some element of scene setting or its just another boring article (give the guy a chance)

Would I love us to be in a national newspaper on something so important (yes)

was the Vice article all correct. no, was the Film Pride 100% true, no

But everyone enjoyed that (well nearly everyone)

As someone who is not LGBT but arrested on anti clause 28 demo for complaining about Police arresting two men for kissing in the 80s - we have come a long way

I am proud of what we have done and proud of Mishi (and others) and that article in the Telegraph highlights what we have ALL worked so hard to achieve

It would...but you have to bear in mind that pre-season games are arranged, in the main, for the benefit of the management & honing his squad for the coming season.

Clapton would be good enough opposition though I think for a Dulwich XI. We played Sevenoaks and Beckenham in pre-season (both step 5), so would be great if this could be arranged....at their ground. Let's make it happen!

ALthough the stereotyping of our friend on the drum isn't very good and shows there is still a long way to go and how important the match actually was. Be amazing to make an annual event as someone mentioned.
They have now removed this!

it's not always about the opposition...the Spotted dog pitch is hardly Wembley-esque...

The drum is the main reason I spent the first half sitting in the stand and the second half trying to prove what an incompetent steward Michael was by watching the match from the 'no standing in this area' by pretending to be his friend.

forgot your plastic flags?

Tottenham-fans1-300x200.jpg Left them at home, there are already plenty of other plastic flags hanging around the ground.

We'd love to have you back at Clapton on Saturday for our own Football v Homophobia match if you can't make Bury, was a really enjoyable night.

We should definitely come for a visit....when DHFC are not playing! Amazing turnout from Clapton on Wednesday.

What midweeks do you have coming up? Think you have had a few postponements to be rescheduled, right?

We do owe Clapton FC ultras a debt of solidarity - turned up in large numbers

and we should repay
We don't owe anyone anything...and I think they wouldn't expect anything in return. If they did a game on a 'theme' for lack of better word, I'm sure Dulwich Hamlet fans would support it, if it wasn't on one of our match days...and NOT just because 'we owe them a favour'!

Some Hamlet fans like going to the occasional Clapton game anyway, I see them two or three times a season, if I have the spare time, when we're not playing.

But it's not to 'return favours' or 'show solidarity'...it's because I like being on the fringe, and enjoy their fans partying as games, like we do, but in a different style to us.

I didn't notice any of that. Even Mishi kept his shirt on!

I was also a bit perplexed by this:

'One was Ruby, resplendent in pink wig with working fairy lights in it. “I lost my job two days ago, and needed cheering up,” she said, as she destroyed a large G&T pitch side. “I’ve never been to a football match in my life, but I’ll be coming back”. '

She's definitely been to our games before. I mean it's not as if you'd forget her in a hurry. She looks fantastic! (Glad you enjoyed the game Ruby, and hope you find a new job soon, I know how it feels. The Hamlet experience has helped keep my own spirits up during some difficult times recently.)

As we know Clapton are regularly threatened by EDL types
If they needed us I would answer the call (as we always do)

They have an anti Homophobia match this Saturday and with more notice I am sure we would have many more Hamlet fans going

I would encourage anyone in East London to go to their local team Clapton

and yes it was great to see so many Wednesday night
