DIY bubble mix ?

Anyone have a reliable recipe for making bubble mix at home ?
I've found and tried various off 'tinterweb with mediocre results. I've experimented with different ratio's of detergent/ water/ glycerin and tried adding corn flour / sugar but nothing bubblicious has occurred yet
Maybe I'm missing a magic ingredient, or using the wrong brand of washing up liquid ?
If anyone has a formula that is tried and tested please share. I've fashioned a home made giant bubble wand in readiness

I thought bubble mix ended with the switch to Natural Gas in the 1970s. You won't get blasted on that stuff like our grandparents did when bubbling coal gas!

I have heard from a bubble aficionado that leaving the mix to settle a couple of days gives better results, then stir, don't shake. No idea what mix she uses, but her child was blowing colossal bubbles, bigger than herself, when I saw her last week.
