I reckon that looks better as it is than the stripped version - where did you get it from? Was it pricey? :hmm:
That'd paint up nice :)

No, I don't think the seller realised what he had. When I asked if it was wood or metal he said "unfortunately it's all metal but it's painted and you can't tell". I'll be conning old ladies out of their china next :(

BTW those narrow double height sideboards go for a LOT less than the long low ones.

I'm not allowed to buy any moe house stuff until we move (and even then I'll have to do it sneakily )... will keep an eye on this thread though.

What about if you get rid of stuff? The only way I can justify and finance this shit is by having everything on a buy buy sell sell rotation.

The only thing I can think of that we might get rid of is the desk, but I will need that once I get a computer (and I'd end up replacing it with something bigger and heavier )... I reckon once we have to move then I'll do a big sort out.

It'll be really cathartic. Do it now! Fun!

Wooohoooo I won this auction last night.

I'm trying to decide whether to keep it how it is or whether I should paint it in a sweet 50s palette - mustard yellow, turquoise, grey, etc.

That's gorgeous, you've got a great eye Pip :)

I bought this today:

He practices coffee voodoo, I nearly bought an expensive metal cup because he said it would improve my microfoam :hmm:

I found a old tea trolley outside my flat, pulled the wheels off and used it to put plants on

Nothing wrong with that.

I just picked up some iron garden ornaments at the city dump. My garden stuff is stolen every year, so if it finds new homes I won't worry about it.

My only regret was that my car wasn't bigger. There was an ornate antique iron fence there too, but it wouldn't fit. I've always wanted a fence like that, but they go for upwards of $1000 at auctions.

You're so lucky, I'd have a fucking field day at a dump :D

We bought a second hand welsh dresser a couple of months back - it holds so much stuff, I love it - even if it does look like a cast off from 'The Good Life'.

One day, it may have actual plates on it - but for now it holds Monopoly, Buckaroo and umpteen other games in the bottom half, and the shelves mainly have rocks and airfix models on them. Bloody kids.

I bought a punch bowl from a charity shop. The ones with 12 glass cups that hang off the side. (£3.50)

I also got round to having a very ornate Gustav Klimt esk in my mind wall hanging stretched (a more  £45.00)

That's lovely but would be even more so painted. Think I'm favouring grey or turquoise..:)

My phone arrived today. It's well funky. The handset could do with being a touch heavier. I'm thinking about investimagating taking it apart and adding some weights inside. It's well weird using the rotary dial :p

I'm about to order a big old print of a photo of my dad I found at my aunt's. He's a kid and playing in the sand back in the late 50s or early 60s.

Not sure how big I should go with it tbh.

I bought some lovely fabric t'other day to make roman blinds. I'm a bit scared of making them though in case I monumentally fuck up. I'm not great with sewing crafts. I still need to get some baton-type things and the top wood bit for them. I've got the rings and some tubing fabric stuff that you push the baton-things through.

I bought a couple of martini glasses that were reduced to 3 quid and a decent ice cream scoop that won't bend and snap. I am on the hunt for a blender for cocktails mainly that will also grind spices, coffee and stuff for special cakes. ;) Any recommendations?

I used to collect antique glasses, the very fine glass kind with etchings on the side, probably Edwardian or Victorian. They had to be a kind of tumbler size, the right size for a gin and tonic or Pimms and lemonade. I left them behind in a house move years ago/

And I had a Leach casserole pot, which I left with a friend when I moved house years ago. :(

My best bargain was a G-plan dining table for about 10-20 quid from a community furniture project after I moved into this flat. It's really solid, really lovely. But some fu(kers who were staying in my flat put hot cups and plates on it. Why do people do sh!t like that? I would *never dream* of putting a hot cup or plate on someone else's beautiful wooden furniture.

How do people get to the age of 20-30 plus and they aren't house trained?

Arts & Crafts linen press - a new home for my pants:

That's beautiful. My sister's got a dressing table very, very similar to that.

The bigger the better IMO!
I was feeling really happy with how (most) of my flat's looking, but last night I went to my friend's house for the first time since she decorated after a flood, and that classy bastard has got it looking so beautiful. Her living room is pale grey, with a pale green 50s sofa (one of those sort of Jetsony angle-y ones), an ice cream pink and elm Wegner arm chair, very pale floorboards and some little Ercol pebble tables. GAAAAAAHHHHHHHH :rolleyes:
