I've started and discarded this thread about four times now, because I'm not sure if there's a market for it on Urban. I hope it does catch on though, because I love this shit even more than I love clothes and slap (and I really love clothes and slap). If not, I'm happy to be the only contributor :D

So what things have you bought for your home recently?

Some of mine include a post-war medical cabinet I was banging on about on another thread. My intention was to strip it back to the steel (it's painted white) but I actually quite like it how it is. It's in my kitchen and currently displays all my glassware and nang Modernist crockery

I also got a massive pepper grinder from Ikea, which looks like a sculpture, and some fabric with big obscene 70s flowers on to make cushion covers with.

Your turn, pictures heartily encouraged.

I've just bought a coffee grinder off Ebay for £8.99.

I'm going to buy a kettle, but I just have to decide on which one first.

Also, I'm going to buy some muslin to make roman blinds, but I can't find any wide enough, so it looks like I'll have to stitch two panels together and have this god-awful seam down the middle. Or I could be all arty and have a bit tacked on the edge or something. Either way, my sewing machine isn't working properly so I don't know how long it's going to take me to get them made. Probably forever.

BTW this is my cabinet.

And this is sort of how it would look if I stripped it, just in case you were wondering.

I can't find a picture of my pepper grinder.

I like that - I would keep it white if I were you.

It would go well in my bathroom!

Have you sorted your floor out now, Pip? I missed the end of that thread. I like threads like that.

Unfortunately my income is slim and dainty, so it's taking longer than I'd like.

I'm having to rent the claw hammer :(

Isnt that a really shit place to have a glass panelled cabinet...right behind a door? :D

Yeah I thought that :D
I think it's in one of those Victorian houses where the living room is two rooms together and only one door is used IYSWIM.

http://www.nest.co.uk They have an owl one, I sent a link to electrogirl :D

No but I get the magazine delivered each month :D

Me too, I got this months delivered this morning

BTW, I'm currently looking for a nice floor lamp to make more of a feature of my hall (fucksake :D) and I'm thinking about getting a 70s sideboard for my front room. I just bought my boyfriend a really nice old Arne Jacobsen lamp (ebay bargain) for his birthday - I was extremely tempted to keep it :hmm:

Wooohoooo I won this auction last night.

I'm trying to decide whether to keep it how it is or whether I should paint it in a sweet 50s palette - mustard yellow, turquoise, grey, etc.

I am sometimes amazed that you are my offspring Pip. I am useless with money but your ability to save and sniff out bargains for practically no cash never ceases to astound me. I didn't know what frugal meant.

I reckon that looks better as it is than the stripped version - where did you get it from? Was it pricey? :hmm:

That'd paint up nice :)
