Desert island discs

Some thing to listen to if you have a few spare moments.

There are a few in there I'll catch up on. Some of them I would have judged quite recent. Full list here from which you can play or download.

Some old ones have come through on my podcast feed and two of them seem to be on that list

Yesterday, Peter White. Lovely bloke. Never heard of him but ended up wishing I knew him. Picked Hancock's half hour 'Sunday Afternoon' for one 'record' (I have that record).

Really nice to listen to.

She was one of the better guests. I like the programme, but too often nowadays it's someone I don't know or don't care about, who has very little of interest to say about anything, and just to add to the mix, their musical tastes are crap.

But!

She was allowed to choose something of practical value for her luxury. This is Not Allowed. Everyone knows this. Standards are there to be maintained, after all.

It’s back from hiatus now Lauren Laverne’s cancer scare is hopefully sorted.

Ebony Rainford-Brent, former England cricketer and BBC commentator, on last Sunday was a good episode. Local to South London of course. One of LL’s better interviews I think.

I’ve always liked her bbc commentary, and her dry sense of humour, so was interesting learning more about her life and journey within cricket, which unsurprisingly wasn’t easy being a woman of colour.
