Derry Girls

Loved all of it and will miss it terribly.

I liked the historical perspective at the end, as many young people watching it dont have a clue about the agreement and the vote. ..or indeed the troubles.

Orla cracks me up every time she appears on screen. I think she was effortlessly brilliant throughout the series ..along with Jo and Sr Michael.

Jerry's dancing was epic last night. I split my sides watching him trying to cope with Colm.

Just a brilliant series.

As an aside, I would love to see Siobhan McSweeney and Ardal O Hanlon in something together.

Look back to 2017 when it was just about to air.

"the real test will be what the general public think when Derry Girls goes out on air —and not just the Derry-Londonderry air."

Suffice to say its played a blinder!!

I was not aware that Lisa McGee was behind London Irish.
Caught one or two episodes at the time.
Might give it another go - available still on All 4.
Dylan Llewellyn (James) returns to the screen next week in new comedy Big Boys.

Sister Michael is a great character.
(In fact they all are)
It was nice to see a little vulnerable side to her last night.....

Siobhán McSweeney was on the Today programme this morning, with some very dry and cutting comments about the current Stormont situation and the UK government.

I loved the Sunchyme intro to last night's episode.
Loved Orla as she danced with those kids in a brilliant River Dance interpretation....

Just finished watching it. Absolutely fantastic; laughed and cried, and the last few minutes where they were deciding to vote with such hope for the future when hope now seems to be totally lacking.

It's not as bad as all that though.
I cant see things ever being as bad as during the Troubles again here.

I probably wasn’t paying attention or perhaps laughing at the time and I missed it, but out of curiosity, was the absence of Sarah’s husband/ Orla’s father ever explained?

I'm not sure that was ever mentioned or explained.
Orla and her mum have kept the McCool name.
So maybe fell pregnant and father didn't want to know etc..
I only just found out that they don't actually live with Gerry and Mary!

Really? I thought they did. How did you find out?

I thought they lived there too. If I recall the very first scene of the first episode is Orla reading Erin's diary in that house. Maybe it's just a device to show how close the family and the wider community is, just as Michelle, Clare and James seem very much at home there too.

Nicola Coughlan, who plays schoolgirl Clare, is 35.

You are correct about Orla being there and reading the diary.
Watch again - Sarah her mother enters from outside in her dressing gown.....
