me i likes em.

a bit trippy and hippy but some classic stuff.

I dont think I will ever tire of listening to "the end"

Where's the 'not crap exactly, but not as amazing as some people like to make out, and jim morrison is a pretentious buffoon, not a mystic/seer' option?

Still have a soft spot for em all these years later.

I know I probably shouldn't, but I don't care.

:p

They had their moments – and I guess there would have been a lot more of those moments if you’d been listening to them while living in the ‘60s, growing ridiculous facial hair, and taking vast quantities of acid…

neither one or the other really...ok in my opinion...middling crap or something like that

my take on them is somewhere between that ^^^ and plain old crap. I loved them when i was about 14, to an obsessive degree. I even read the twat's poetry.

What he said. I still like their music but I can't take them seriously like I used to when I was younger.

At the Isle of White Festie they looked shit hot on film.

Right. It's not that cool to like 'em anymore apparently but they made some great music. First couple of Lp's particularly. Concert footage I've seen indicates a fantastic live band to.

I used to love them when I was a youth. I still like a lot of their songs, and even have a soft spot for American Prayer. Definately not crap.

Bit like Dub, liked them when I was a youngster, read the Sugerman book twice, saw the film three times at the flicks, wore daft shirts and stuff.

Don't play them anymore, still like Peace Frog though.

ah, the old 'you don't like them cos it's not cool to like them' argument.

Specious bollocks which really boils my piss, touted by people who find it inconceivable that others might find their sacred cows to be a bit shit.

see also:

"If you don't like them, you obviously haven't listened to XXX"
"If you listened to XX and you still don't like them, you obviously weren't listening properly"
"If you were listening properly, you're not LETTING yourself like them because XXX"

etc.

Guess what - sometimes some people just don't like stuff :)

Halfway through "Strange Days" there's about 3 minutes of wankery along the lines of "While still radiant moonbeams collect dizzy love from ancient splendours..." etc etc. Blech. Cheesypoof is a better poet that Jim Morrison. The music's alright though.

I liked 'em in my teens and still have a soft spot for Riders On The Storm but they're bordering on crap to me now. However, nostalgia prevents me from condemning them to Crapness, hence splinters in bum option.
