Craft club PYO and preserve making

I'm definitely in! That place looks fantastic.... I will have to leave on Sunday morning though to go to work.

Where is Bearsted?

According to multimap, PYO is here - right next to the Isle of Sheppy!

You can see Bearsted on the map (south west of the circle) - that's where the train station is..

And the bunkhouse is right where it says Friningham (next to Bearsted).

According to t'internet, the bunkhouse is about 2 miles from the train station (IIRC) and the PYO is about 10 miles from the bunkhouse.

hey maybe we could go for a little pootle on the isle of Sheppey after if there's time...

Crustychick has just pm-ed to say that she can make it (as long as it's £22 - which it's looking like it will be) and she's got car room too... for herself plus 3 I'd imagine...

Han and Jan you've got room for 2?, 3?

That's almost everyone

I'd definitely wanted to come even before I'd seen those cheeses. Am now even definiter. Can't wait. :D

Cheese?

e2a: just went back a page and saw the photos... mmmm cheese.

If it wasn't same weekend as ashton court I'd be v.tempted :(

Phew! That's a relief. I was worried there for a second that the cheese counter existed only in my mind. ;)

Those pictures are making me very hungry.

Well that'd be six of you in your van (blimey  ) and 4 (I'm guessing) in Crustychick's car... which makes 10!! Hurrah!! Jobs a goodun'

Yep it's a BIT of a squash but there are seats + seatbelts for 4....so people won't be hurled about! (Except by my driving ;) )

Booked!!! This looks so cool!

It's £240 for the two nights.. so hopefully if we all turn up - £24 each.

The bunkhouse has its own website

Nearest pub!!! : Has an amazing menu and also has live music (jazz/blues apparently) on the Friday night!! :D AND.. they serve "traditional Country Fruit wines!" They also hire out bikes for £5 a day... so we might even be able to get a cycle ride in if we feel like it!!

The Farm is believed to have been named during Saxon times. It's situated on top of the North Downs in Kent offering miles of views to the south and east from two view points on the farm. The farm today has 33 acres including nine acres of ancient woodland which was graded as Special Nature Conservation Value.

The long distance trail, The North Downs Way, runs along the southern boundary of the farm and the Pilgrims Way is just a short distance away. The farm is in a lovely area of countryside with an excellent network of footpaths bridlepaths and byways.

The animals on the farm are a small flock of sheep and we specialise in breeding a few Black Welsh Moutain Sheep, not rare but a minority breed. There are also other, bottle reared, friendly sheep. There are also Pygmy Goats who regularly walk 'their bit' of the North Downs Way with us, together with our own and other people's horses and ponies.

This Barn has housed many occupants over the years: pigs, horses, goats and more recently (2,000) we saw our last few lambs born in there! But this barn is now fully refurbished! The price includes all electricity and heating, but showers are on a coin meter.

Sleeping - this barn has 3 bunk rooms, two to sleep four people, one small room sleeping two, so in total will accommodate ten. Each bunk bed is provided with a mattess and pillow. You need to bring sleeping bag and pillow cover.
Eating - There is a large farmhouse style kitchen fully equipped with all cutlery, crockery and cooking pans and utensils. In the kitchen are ample cupboards and workspace, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, electric oven. There are radiators in each room except the small bunk room which has a small electric heater.

Washing - A partition with lockable door leads to one end of the barn which provides separate mens and ladies toilets, showers and washing rooms. These facilities are shared with the occupants of the Camping Barn. Showers are on a coin meter.

Wet Clothing - Adjacent to the shower rooms is an area for drying wet clothes with hanging space and a coin operated tumble dryer.

So we have:

gaijingirl
pieeye
eme
ms t
crustychick
zora
Han
Jan
wrysmile

(gaijinboy was up for it, until he discovered he'd be the only bloke and then got worried that he'd get bullied - he says he'll be a back up if he is needed!) :D

So we are currently 9! Which means potentially £27 each for accommodation as it stands.

So far I have put down £100 deposit and I will have to pay the balance in a couple of weeks time.

However, what I'll do is ask each of you to pay £24 to me - which is how much it will cost on the basis of 10 of us staying there. I'll cover the cost of the mythical 10th person for the moment. That way, if someone else decides to come (Wrysmile's mate for example) between now and then, they can just pay me the extra £22.

If no one does.. we can sort it out on the weekend.

I'll pm you all my bank details and you can just pay directly in if that's ok with you all. If anyone is unable to do that and wants to pay some other way, please let me know. :)

Wow - that sounds great!

Pub with jazz 'n' fruit wine! Pygmy goats! Yipee ! ! !

Ta for organising all this gaigin

Really looking forward to this!

I can take 3 in my car. But only (and this is really important), if people dont bring a lot of stuff.

I had me plus 2 this weekend to the Rainbow Circle and there was no more room. So, to bring me plus 3 people will have to be economical with the amount of stuff, i.e. one small bag each! But other than that, happy days :)

I love goats - my sister is stalking wild ones on the borders at the moment

I may see if I can squeeze in a vehicle on the way down and hire a bike there if it's just a fiver for the day.

I keep seeing this and really fancy coming along. If all goes well, do you reckon you might do it again later in the summer? August/September?

I don't mind getting the train if it means we can put stuff in the car (ie jam!) - it might be easier?

when are the dates exactly again?

of course i would love to come along..there is just this wedding on the 23/07 i really should go to.

It's 21-23rd, but Ms T is leaving on the morning of the 23rd to go to work (actually we'll all have to leave the bunkhouse anyway), so maybe you could come and just leave early on the Sunday morning with a far of freshly made jam for the happy couple! :) One place left!! Wouldn't be the same without you!

yes exactly, i really want to come.

damn, becaus the wedding is actually in the south of germany it is my former england neighbour marrying a german girl. for me it is quite inconvineint to go there because none of family lives near by so i could see them as well. however socially i feel rather obliged.

i will see if i get a cheap flight though...so most likely i can't make this date.

anyway, next time.

WEll come then! Of COURSE boys are allowed! I'm super impressed!

Just told gaijinboy and he's all upset..

"But if another boy is going I'd go too!" :D

It'd be great to have you!

If you want to come let me know and i'll pm you my bank details for the wonga!

So excited!

What time are we leaving London on Friday - in the evening, or should I book the friday off work?

This really sounds so amazing, and what with the holiday in Italy coming up (and then later in August holiday with best friend from Germany hopefully culminating in the Endorse-it-in-Dorset festival) I'm completely giddy with excitement about the summer and there are mad bubbles of happiness bubbling away in my chest.

I don't know what time we should leave. I have just gotten a summer job which requires me to work most evenings and weekends... although I did warn my future employer that this trip may be happening. Even so, I probably couldn't leave till towards the evening on the Friday.

Maybe, if everyone is in agreement, we could leave the Brixton area at about 5-ish on the Friday evening, in the hope of arriving there by 8-ish (actually it should take less time) and maybe going to the pub to watch the music? Looking at the pub website they clearly do sit down meals, but it looks like they might do more casual food too if we wanted to eat, drink and see music at the same time - I might call and check. Or do you think we should try and leave a bit earlier.. 4pm???
