A somewhat early start of arriving in Lisbon for 11am led to refereshments being consumed untill the game started . Banner was knicked when they left it up outside a bar by some young Sporting supporters who held it up on the other side of the road chanting Sporting. After staggering up numerous stair cases to the top level our intrepid travellers ( both FLAF supporters and ones in the Labour Party) lasted 20 minutes before they were requested to leave the stadium by security and were escorted out by the Police. Ended up in a bar watching the rest of the game . Also got off at the wrong staion on the way back and had to get a taxi to meet me somewhat tired and emotional.

My Portuguese mates asked why they didnt see the banner in the stadium on TV. When I told them the entire story they pissed themselves.

Follow up to City's flags being taken. Apparently ( well according to my mate ) the club is going to replace them and present them to the aggrieved at the return game. Hopefully in front of the Sporting end.

First off, another chance to salute and say goodbye to the already sorely missed Badgers .

What a comeback by Madrid tonight. Even though it’s my childhood and local club I wouldn’t have lost much sleep if RM had gone out, because fuck Florentino and the Super League nonsense. But then again, fuck the blood petrodollar-funded PSG even more :D

Benzema is bizarrely underrated imo. Doesn’t get talked about as much as plenty of his peers even though he’s as good or better than most. He was always a great player, and since Cristiano left he’s been out of this world for Madrid.

I have only just realised that the Europa League and Europa Conference League are different things. But still don't know what the difference is. Anyone?

Great result for Benfica who had to endure an onslaught by Ajax in the first half but got more confident in the second and went toe to toe. Full bloodied game this , lots of tackles, imaginary injuries , loads of appeals , very enjoyable.

Flicked through the other game, from what I saw plenty of effort from Man Utd but not good enough to beat a defensively good but quite average Atletico

Draw on Friday for both quarters and semis :

Chelsea
Villarreal
Benfica
Atletico
City
Liverpool
Real Madrid
Bayern

Three Spanish, three English , one German and one Portuguese

Chelsea vReal Madrid
Manchester City v Atletico
Winners play in the semi

Liverpool v Benfica
Villa Real v Bayern
Winners play in semi final

So Chelsea play a team we beat last year and the face either one of two other teams we beat last year .

Benfica only have to beat Liverpool and Bayern to get to the final

Chelsea are beating Real Madrid 2-0 which brings them level on aggregate. I'm hoping for extra time and penalties.

Cant beleive Aspi got booked for a foul and he wasnt even playing.

What a match though. We had our chances.
Most will have though Real would have cruised through after the first game but we dominated the first hour and but for a 'playing strictly by the rulebook ' VAR decision could have gone through within 90 mins. Yes we had chances Pullisic , Havertz and Jorginho , anyone of those could have gone in. Very proud of that display.
