Ceramic coatings for new cycle

I use helicopter tape on my bike, stops scuffs and scratches. Does stop scuffs and scratches when I have a large wipe-out though.

I've put them on cars plenty of times but I doubt I'd do it on a bike unless somebody were offering to do it for free.

The word 'ceramic' is misleading, it's actually a transparent, semi-permanent polymer layer on top of the paint. It makes sense on a car as it makes them easier to clean and looks shinier. It can also obscure minor defects like scratches and swirls. On a bike you don't have those large painted surfaces and doesn't help the challenge of cleaning a bike which the build-up of crap in hard to reach areas like the drop-outs.
