May: Of course I listen to what the American president tells me. We have—
Dickerson: But do you trust him?

It is a rhetorical question.

It's a stupid question because she obviously will not answer "yes" or "no".

In fact I'd go as far as to say it insults the intelligence of the listeners/viewers.

everyone watching, apart from people too stupid to find their local polling station, knows that she means 'no, i trust him about as far as i could shit him uphill in a stiff breeze - he has no more place in the White House than a toddler has in a gun shop', but can't say it because a) Trump is a thin skinned narcasist who'd probably nuke the British Embassy in Washington in a fit of pique, and b) because Americans would take umbrage at an outside commenting on their domestic affairs and choices. May is far too cautious politically, and polite personally, to get involved in a slanging match.
