Can I freeze little silver skin onions?

I have a lot which I bought mainly for the jars (59p) for 330ml jars and 190g of onions.

If I drain them, vacuum pack them with a food saver and freeze them will they be ok?

I will need the onions in a month for chutney but I need the jars now for pickling cucumbers.

Yes you can. The question is will you be able to use them afterwards.

A jar of pickled silverskin onions is a great snack - I eat that regularly.

They'll probably go all mushy unless you've got some liquid nitrogen to flash freeze them.

That was my guess, fresh chopped onions freeze OK IIRC but if they've been soaked should think they'd break down.

I have nothing to add, but I have respect for someone who can plan their chutney making a month ahead. Although my solution would be to make the chutney now. Who knows what will happen tomorrow, let alone in a month's time?

I'm surprised onions freeze ok.

My experiences with frozen onions is that they are only suitable for cooking afterwards.
Small or chopped up works best.

If they're in vinegar they'll keep in the vinegar. Just put them in a takeaway box in the fridge.
