Brixton Water Lane, old chip shop – and the Windrush ‘water feature’

Never mind Marilyn Monroe and Water Lane the Fish and Chip shop in Effra Parade is a movie star. It appears in the 1988 movie 'Buster' - I know because I watched them film it. All the trailers for the stars (Phil Collins and Julie Walters) parked in the school playground opposite - it was quite an evening !

Brixton was in Alfie as well. There's a thread somewhere about films that had parts shot in Brixton

While I remember the UK magazine office scenes in 'How To Lose Friends and Alienate People' starring Simon Pegg were filmed inthe large rooms on the first floor of the Hobgoblin.

Has he got Stockwell Road in Blow up? ( probably - I think I mentioned it on another thread a few years ago)

I've just posted up a few pics from a recent stroll around Brixton.

Anyone ever buy chips from here?

I bought my first ever steak and kidney pie there in 1988
and promptly puked after that.

That old Fish and Chip shop (now an ordinary house) in Effra Parade features in the 1988 Phil Collins/Julie Waters film Buster.
How do I know know ? I was the location scout who found it ...

The films available free on YouTube and the brief INT/EXT night scene appears in the first of the 7 sections the film is divided into.
