Brixton food & drink news: new restaurants, bars, pop ups, cafes and more

Some updates and thoughts:

Paddy's Bar is only opening on a temp events license. so it might not open for some time after Jan 2nd.

The Dogstar's steel shutters have already been tagged.

Does anyone go to the PoW pub part any more? Getting rid of those Thursday jam sessions really was a stupid move.

Weds night at Bricks could be the best night out in Brixton now.

As for the Albert, here's the worst things to happen to the place:

1. Removing the stage so the venue can no longer host proper live shows
2. Building that ridiculous, crawl-through fortress DJ booth (which appears to be slowly deconstructing)
3. Getting rid of the sound system and not replacing the bass bin (my bass bin, as it happens) that their clueless DJs have blown up
4. Installing managers who don't 'get' the place
5. Removing the trees in the back garden
6. Adding those dazzlingly bright neon adverts for beers

Have I missed anything?

There’s a brilliant live band / open mic on Sunday nights. Really lively vibe

If its cheap beer I'll go in.

I'm not so keen because I want to support local businesses rather than landlords backed by a national chain kicking out long-serving Brixton businesses under dubious circumstances.
