Brixton Blither, Blether and Bonfire Blather - November 2012

You've deleted the wrong one and my phone won't let me edit mine!

For the record- I've already made it clear I think it's a great barbershop. My later posts were clearly not serious.

Barbergate is getting off to a slow start. You've only got a week to reach a competitive post count. Any ideas? I'm holding a Nisa Post Office item in reserve. There are probably no more than three posts in it, but it might help to have something up our sleeves in case we're a few posts short at 23.55 next Friday.

I'm going to go through recent posts and reply to them one by one. I'm ill, but gawdamnit it matters.

Meanwhile I noticed activity in the shop on Brixton Hill that used to be AllMarks then was the florist. They seemed to be arranging vintage bric a brac and objets d'art around the place.

I went to the Colombian place today. Very good food and £2.50 for a bottle of proper imported Colombian lager.

Thumbs up.

I'm very much enjoying your exploration of BV, Onket. You are a pioneer!

Which colombian place? I think there are two. They have a soft drink called Columbiana, like it's their national drink or summat. Except it's Irn Bru by any other name!

This is the Brixton thread for this month. If it was posted on the Brady's thread then fair enough. I think I unsubscibed due to the 'I'm more Brixton than you' idiocy on there, so may have missed it.

Onket, correct as usual, whether his tagline says so or not.

That barber shop at the Hobgoblin end of Tulse Hill deserves a positive mention. A fiver! Really nice girl in there too.

Will be popping in today to get the hair that I've grown cut off again.

that's good. What length is your hair now?

The beer was only £2.50.

I'd have had beer anyway, tbf.

it would be difficult to beat KFC for taste, though their coatings can be soggy.
is there any better fried chicken in breadcrumbs than kfc? in brixton? morleys and the like tend to to be pretty unremarkable with rubbish, ungenerous coatings.

I do love KFC drumsticks. That said I've only been in a KFC maybe 3 or 4 times. It is a dirty treat. I only buy KFC on the bone as then you know it has at least once been a chicken. I wouldn't trust nuggets to even have met a chicken.

Got another NISA Post Office vignette for you Onket. I went in and the nice lady was being berated by a nasty lady doing her best to have a dignified self-righteous hissy fit. This is what she said, verbatim. "Are you trying to tell me that your company, the Post Office, does not know the paper weight?" Then she flounced out. I've been mulling this over for days, but I can't work out what she was getting at. She didn't look like a drinker or a crackhead - just one of those self important lower middle class types who likes to treat shop staff like servants.

Maybe she was talking about one of these?

Please don't let it turn into one of THOSE threads.

I'm not an effusively emotional or huggy person as I'm sure you know, Onket, but I do like to be welcoming to newcomers and I'm more than happy for this to be that sort of thread.
