I have a vegan bride and doing the MU trial tomorrow, been scouring the web looking for vegan make up and am going to use a combo of urban decay & Bnever, anyone used their mascara before? urban decays doesn't seem to be vegan...

as an aside, I've just seen her dress and it's a bit amazing...

Gorgeous dress!

Sadly I have used B Never mascara and found it to be shit :( It went straight off my lashes onto my face, where it remained despite vigorous scrubbing.

yep, it is smudgy. However, I've found that if i comb it well enough and don't put too much on it's a good natural looking one. not good for weddings though, any moisture at all and it's off

I'll find out on the sly and let you guys know... now I gotta do some face sheets, I really wanna use gold because of the dress detailing, but I dunno how it'll look... wish this wasn't bridal... lol

I'll show you when I've done it, it's like a make up plan, or when you got a client you put all the products down on a sheet with swatches & a diagram

Oh I get you, a bit like storyboards in fashion design. Ta, I would like to see it, I love that sort of thing.

I've gotta still price all the stuff up we need to buy because my kit's vegetarian friendly, not much is vegan though, I had to make a point about my brushes being made from natural hair, would have been a shitter if I was forced to use synthetic because the fibres dont hold colour as well, iirc though they clip the hair for brushes, the first clipping going on the most expensive because it has finer points and the rest of the clips for lower quality brushes, it's ok though

Depends how strict she is I guess. Guessing that the dress ain't totally vegan for example. But yeah, the more you can do the better innit  Plus then you've done the groundwork for when the next one comes up.

tbh I'm only really doing it because she's a mate, I'd rather not get involved with the whole bridal thing lol they can be a fucking nightmare!

even in class when we were doing bridal make up my tutor was talking about how you just cant please some people, even if they ask for something and it actually looks fine she said you can just go over the make up again with a clean brush and they will say it looks a lot better and be happy with it :D

as careers go, it's fucking expensive! I gotta do a load of shit for free to build me folio, is well irritating, but without that no one will book you, and it's practise I guess, can't complain. oh and it's the one thing that everyone thinks they can get for free, seriously I've seen brides advertise for a MUA working for free in exchange for pictures, fuck that, I'll do it for people I know, not some pikey random on the internet! the cheek of some people!

That does take the piss rather. You'll be pleased to hear I'll be doing my own slap on the big day, that way I only have myself to piss off ;)

The Beauty Without Cruelty mascara is quite good - loads better than the B Never mascara which is deeply rubbish. I love the BWC liquid eyeliner too. You can buy their stuff online as well as in bigger health food shops :) My fav mascara is Mosscara by Aveda - as far as I can tell that is vegan but it is quite pricey - think it's about £14 or so.
