billionaire nonce cult leader Sia Baba dies ruining his prophecy re his death

Well we can speculate, but the nonce-motives would have been there all along, I think, even if he was poor. Just his wealth, social standing and influence (and with it protection) made his opportunities to nonce, easier.

Pedophilia is a crime, and is abhorrent.

A Hobson's choice for you: no philanthropist and therefore no sexual abuse of the local boys; or no hospitals?

In Cambodia ? The pedo sex trade is pretty underground, despite cliched media claims to the contrary and as would be expected, it is totally despised by the expat community as a whole. I never knew anyone there who wouldn't hesitate to give anyone involved with kids a good kicking or to shop them to the police without hesitation. Cambodian expat scene is pretty macho and that stuff is just not tolerated. Adult prostitution of course is massive but that's another issue entirely

So sexual exploitation of the locals is tolerated and carried out by the expats, but only to a point?

It's ok to fuck the 18+ local poor women, as long as you don't go near the kids?

Btw, please don't get me wrong: I'm not defending pedophilia. I'm just trying to ascertain the shape and extent of the moral boundaries here.

I found some of this when I was studying Buddhism. Some the bad behavior of monks was dismissed as part of the process of enlightenment and that testing the limits of behavior was to be expected.

That certainly doesn't fit with our judaeo christian values.

Here the catholic priests and other holy men sexually abuse young boys, but then it's just not talked about.

The question was asked about child sexual exploitation in Cambodia.I addressed my answer to that specific question .If you want to discuss prostitution in general then fine but as I said its an entirely different issue. (and a bit off topic) I would point out however that the vast vast majority of clients for the sex industry in Cambodia are locals not foreigners.

tbh I'd be much more likely to heed the words of some crazy Sadhu smoking chillums on the ghats in Varanasi than some weirdo nonce conjourer like Sai Baba. But each to their own, and all that.
