Quoted cos I like it

It is the best submarine film that I've seen - not that there are that many, mind

Yellow Submarine is damn fine, probably the best animated film I've seen. Although a bit absurd that it wasn't actually the Beatles voices.

I liked the Crimson Tide.

I think Crimson Tide is my second favourite submarine movie. Its so flipping loaded with testosterone, the Gene Hackman charachter clearly doesn't know whether to fuck or fight Denzel Washington. And then theres the whole Silver Surfer argument :D

loved it :)

Watched it again the other night - what a big pile of pants! Nice and roomy in that submarine, innit?

Must admit I watched it yonks ago when I wasn't as discerning about films as now. Perhaps I wouldn't enjoy it as much now...

<checks official list of classics>

nope, sorry, it's toss :)

:D
and a bloody boring book. I remember I borrowed it off someone at school in about the year before GCSEs. By the end of A levels I still had it and still hadn't got very far with it...

I've never seen Das Boot so am going for the Abyss.

I'd rather let jones'ing crack squirrels chew my arm off than ever watch the humunguous steaming pile of cinematic elephant dung known as "The Abyss" ever again!

Yes Das Boot no question.

The author of the original book, who was a German submarine officer in WW2, just died so they just screened again it (last week I think it was) on German TV and very good it was too.

The original film was apparently 6 hours and they had to cut it a lot to make a normal film about it.

It won an Oscar.

Maybe not the greatest ever, but I think the haunted submarine film "Below" is rather good.

I agree, Das Boot is an absolute classic. The score is phenomenal too....

I don't think I've ever seen any other submarine films...
