Beauty products that actually work

I did think about wraps but I need something to harden and stop my nails breaking ideally. I’d probably use wraps on top if I wanted a pattern or something.
That's fair enough - I only have mine very short so it's less of an issue if they're not so strong. I started using wraps to stop me biting my nails, which it did (until I take 'em off, then it's open season!) Mainly wear plains, with only the occasional dive into patterns.

How much do people regularly pay for beauty?

Every 4 weeks I have my eyebrows threaded & underarms & legs waxed for £28. Been going to the same person for years who now works out of her garage which has been transformed into a beauty room which she did as rental costs kept going up. It helped that she was established already.

Hair I have roots, cut & blow-dry every 8 weeks at £100 & once a year I have full colour done at £140.

I have my bikini line done about twice a year.

Not had my nails done in years as they are forbidden at work.

I occasionally have an eyebrow tint.

Massage about twice a year & rarely pay for a facial.

Then there is moisturiser, eye cream, make up , perfume etc

My heir & my monthly beauty stuff are the treatments I have decided are essential & factor into my budget & will work extra shifts to pay for them if needed.

Haircut and blow dry, £40 every 8-10 weeks. Outside of the general cosmetics and toiletries maintenance spend, that's it. I shave legs and armpits, do home pedis in the summer, don't do anything to my fingernails other than file and shape regularly, tweeze my own brows and chin/lip hair.

Every 8 weeks I have brow lamination £48 and in between I have a wax and tint £20.

For special occasions I’ll have a lash lift but I can’t afford to do it regularly £44.

Around 4 weekly I have BIAB nails £40 for infills but I try and have a removal and reapplication every few months.

Hair I only have done a couple of times a year. Full head balayage and cut £160ish or slightly cheaper if I go on a weekday and use my blue light discount.

I don’t have anything else but I would if I had money. Massages, facials etc and I’d have my hair done more and probably have full head highlights as I’m starting to get some grey that needs covering.

I am also planning to have laser treatment on a spot of sun damage on my face when I have the money.

Hair colour is £150 every 9 weeks for roots and toner reapplication as I went for copper which looks great but is stupid from a maintenance point of view as it fades so quickly. Cut is £70 every three months or so. This is by far my biggest expense vanity wise. I am going to speak to hairdresser about cheaper options for hair as it’s not really viable long term. Curse my genetics for going grey so young.

I shave my legs and arms and wax my face; I use strips so it’s minimal cost wise as I cut up the larger leg ones (I don’t think this is really the best for your skin but whatever). Skincare wise I use Cetaphil cleanser, Aveeno moisturiser and SPF. Absolutely nothing else.

£55 (incl. tip) on a haircut every 3-4 months. An occasional massage but I'm thinking of making it a regular thing (maybe monthly).

I trim body hair with a beard trimmer and scissors, so no cost there. Skincare comes to maybe £30 every few months (I use Elave). I'll buy 1-3 cosmetics products a year, cost variable.

Once in a while I try to add something to this routine, but it doesn't stick. I like nail varnish but absolutely hate the feeling of having it removed. Hair dye is fun but unless it's very subtle, it ages me. I keep thinking I should try some subtle highlights or something but the end results never feels worth the bother. My sensitive skin hates facials, even expensive ones designed for sensitive skin, it just wants to be left alone.

I haven’t included cost of skincare and make-up because I don’t want to add it up.
I use a mix of premium brands and budget stuff like Revolution and Nyx.

I get a monthly Glossybox now which curbs my impulse spending because I have a monthly treat of new things to try (or give away).

I like that I find new brands this way too.

I'm terrible with looking after my hair. I just let it grow until I can't take anymore and then I have it cut to the shoulder. I probably have it done around twice a year.

Nails, brows and a bit of dermablading every 3 to 4 weeks at £35.

For skin care I'm lucky that my husband has some work for Boots and so visits their head office shop and buys up a bag full of whatever he can find and I use that. Most stuff is a quid a product. Although I'm using some Dr Sam Bunting's tinted spf and is gorgeous. I was seduced by an Instagram advert but it paid off. Otherwise I use ELF and have dabbled in their skincare ad well which isn't bad either.

It used to be 35 twice a year + £7 fringe trims (6 a year probably). But now I've added colour and don't know the outlay. £70 twice a year?

My current goal in life is to get a lash lift so that'll be another £50 occasionally.

I've broken my buying make up habit and have enough to last a decade.
