Not a bad last day, spent most of it by the leveticus tent and then the best couple of hours with the Village Disco... They were the saviour of Sunday. Then came the rain, so we went home.

Good festival, mostly awful music (for me). I wouldn't pay for it though.

At last, peace in Escot.

Wouldn't like to be camping here tonight with talk of severe rain and floods for the south.

It's drilling it down here too...but at least a) I'm in a house and b) I don't have to pack it up in the morning!

Hope it stops there soon. Packing up a tent in the rain is proppa miserable!

I agree with the editor that Arthur Brown was ace, I'd never seen him before (bar a guest spot woth Jerry Dammers at Glastonbury this June). Well impressed.

Act of the festival for us though only had a modest crowd in the Biig Top on Saturday afternoon -- Boppin B, full on fifties style rock and rollers from Germany. Thay were excellent, with a totally full on, standing on top of the the stand up bass performance ...

I also liked African Headcharge a lot before retiring early to the Big Top because of the imminent rain on Sunday .... missed Dreadzone and the Levs (neither of whom I'm as anti as are some here!) in consequence, but I'll live! :p

Did lots of wandering and drinking, had a great time overall as ever, and our little SE Devon microclimate was amazingly dryish and pleasant (given the truly dire pre fest forecasts) right up to Sunday evening. Even after the rain came, we were spared the horrors that further North in Devon and (reputedly) Green Man in Wales endured.

We'll be back for sure!

Oh and I think Sunrarr was a somewhat harsh on Don Letts, we went to his Sunday DJ set not that Saturday one, but it was fine for us -- he's always been a populist floorfiller to some extent and allowing for that, he made some fine picks I thought, just right for the BD audience anyway ;)

Were in blue van along from cafe. Packed up early because of the rain. In all evening.

Stayed in and watched a film. I'm now confident new van hasn't any leaks. Where's my cake biddley?:D
I ran out of phone battery

It was about 4-5pm on Sunday that I came looking so you were probably tucked up watching your film! This is becoming a serious mission... I will get cake to you - even if I come down to Cornwall to do it! :D

Yup it's into 'fucking it down' land.

Nice firework in the middle of that display.
I didn't know you were there. And I completely forgot about the meet that Stig organised at 12pm on Saturday

Was worried we would be a bit down this weekend having lost our trusty BD partners, but even though they were missed, I had a fantastic weekend! I love Beautiful Days, and its already in the diary for next year. Enough things to wander about and do if you don't like any of the bands on, lovely people, the bimble inn, people watching and great toasties :D I feel happy there even when some of the bands are really shit, and some really were... Neds were rubbish, the wailers were like bad karaoke, James were abysmal, the wurzels...erm, and the levellers on sunday night were awful :D

Really enjoyed New Model Army and Billy Bragg though (both his Q&A and set), Don Letts on Saturday night and Sub Focus. Only caught a couple of songs of that crazy arthur brown... very odd, but good show, and heard a band in the big top on Sunday morning that were pretty good too. It only clicked on Sunday night that the leviticus tent is run by what were exodus  no wonder the tunes were good.

I found the rain funny on Sunday, you get to a point where it's so heavy that all you can do is laugh :D (I did have full waterproofs on though), and we had the trusty tarp to retreat to :)

That was really, really good.

Completely missed Dreadzone, so no worries there...

The Wailers were really poor (IMHO) and I ended up watching British Sea Power do "Men of Aran" instead, which was odd and excellent.

Arthur Brown actually made sense. Ditto Attila the Stockbroker. I only saw the Hobo's three times, bit of a low score. Couldn't work out what African Head Charge thought they were doing - they used to be excellent?

Still baffled by the lack of tins of beans at the village shop.

I was called into the pit for James, which was quite interesting. They were worried about a stage invasion and didn't have the security to prevent it so roped stewards in to help out. Not really needed.

Couldn't hear a thing with my back to the stage apart from his voice vaguely echoing around the stage, the sub and the guitar. Moment was when he got onto the barriers, the crowd were holding him up to sing and someone was thrusting a butter nut squash into his face. He ignored it till the end of the track and then rubbed it all over his head? That was a real WTF?!? is going on there moment.

One of the girls on stage, much to the annoyance of the crew, threw a tambourine into the crowd which hit some poor woman in the head, really hard.

I was on the main arena for the entire time I was working and apart from Port Isaac Fisherman Friends, I think I was wandering around the land of dull. There was nothing worthy of mention on Fri and Sat night and Sunday afternoon. I thought that I would get to see some high quality random acts but was quite surprised that apart from the above exception, nothing did it for me. All a bit strained or just plain boring. I might have somewhat differing musical tastes but nothing really got the crowd going.

I do hope that the other stages were better.

At any point, did you - or anyone else - sit down?

(Sorry, someone had to :( :) )

Already booked (in my head) for next year. Glad it was a wicked one peeps :)

Wonder when the 2011 dates are? How many sleeps are there now? What? What? What?

I had a lot of fun. The weather pretty much held out all weekend except for Sunday evening / night and even then only a few places turned to shallow mud, I was amazed how unaffected a lot of the site was as the rain had been quite heavy and persistent.

My highlight of the weekend was probably Babylon Circus, great fun. Thought the food was generally good and just about affordable.

I didnt think much of dirty davey's, whilst it was good to have another stage (bandstand in fact) it was so low down that you couldnt see much from a few rows back, plus it was too near the main stage so the sound bleed was bad at both areas. The whole area seemed a bit half arsed and cobbled together at the last minute. Dunno if the real ale bar was a success but they seemed to be very empty (ale wise) when I stuck my head in on Sunday afternoon.

One slight surprise was the que to get into the car parks, the last couple of years have been great but this year it was back to being a bit rubbish, this may have been in part due to the sizeable police presence on the entrance. Also a for a first time there was a que to leave on the Monday, maybe there were more people here this year?

All in all a great weekend and will almost certainly be back next year and just relieved we got away with it rain wise until it didnt matter so much.

Uuuurgh, my liver. What a brilliant festival! Highlights for me were The Wailers (karaoke? eh?), The Destroyers, Port Isaac Fisherman's Friends, Attila the Stockbroker (especially that poem about his mum) and the Easy Star All-Stars, although their version of "When I'm 64" was a bit wtf? :hmm:

The weather was just great, all things considered, but it all got a bit Old Testament on the Sunday evening. Managed to miss the meet-up - I was actually there, looking for likely sorts, but the whole festival was full of likely sorts, iyswim :D

Lovely beer too. Too much lovely beer.

How long till next year's again?

It was painfully shite, but then the Easy All Stars are just a cabaret covers band.

I thought the Wailers were awful too - like a cruise ship version with none of Marley's passion - but happily there was loads of good stuff going on elsewhere.

Oh, and £2.80 for a pint of ale? Fucking RESULT!

First time I'd seen the Wailers. I'll take your word for it though. I know what you mean about the ESA-S, but I still like 'em (mostly). Got to agree with you about the beer prices though! :D Otter Bright is just LOVELY, but tastes so much better at under £3.

Did anyone see any of the band in the Bimble on friday night and Saturday afternoon evening? Best music of the whole festival.

I know BD essentially rotates around festi-staple sounds but it would be nice to see a wider choice on the main stage next year. It's our local festival and not everyone likes dread zone, NMA, the levellers and all that stuff... Iyswim?

I was only feet away from you, Editor, judging by quite a few of your photos - and you've caught me at the Village Disco, in the dancing competition. VD were the best fun.
