Forecast on some sites looks trully dreadful. I'm really glad they've decided to get rid of a big covered space (pussy parlure) for a real ale bar and a bandstand.

I thought the site opened at 10am in previous years, but can't be sure.

There;s still the big top, little big top, bimble inn and quite a few other covered places ;) (I never went in pussy parlure ).

I thought it was 12, but that seems too late

No never as late as 12, maybe the first couple of years when there was no music on the Friday?

The one thing the pussy parlure had (apart from going on later then all those you mention, except the bimble) was tables and chairs. It a muddy wet one they were an absolute god send.

If this weekend turns out to be wet and muddy then the Bimble will be so rammed after the main stages shut.

Actually don't listen to me, I'm just a bit down on the pp not being there, it was a great escape from a the festival for a short while. I just can't see why we need a real ale bar given the main bars have more ale and cider then lager and as for a bandstand............

I thought the PP was orrible and never went in there. And I'm looking forward to the ale bar. :D. *waves tankard*

So there's one happy customer.

Reckon I could foil the rain by packing some sort of waterproof layer. I recommend paraboots and leather trousers for the bottom half; you can scoff at muddy puddles with those on.

Aye, different strokes etc. Massive queues for it in 2008 mind as the rain fell all day. Its going to be really missed if that happens again.

Sure, but don't the main bars have 4 real ales on at least?

Over the last 5 years I've had the opportunity to hoan my waterproof gear. Poncho, waterproof trousers over the top of wellies with long sports socks pulled up and taped in place so the wellies don't rub. I don't get slightly wet, but all this misses the point, I fecking hate it when it rains. Metcheck are the most optomistic at the moment so I'm sticking with them despite their rumoured status as crack heads.

Yup, they do. And the next festival we're going to has 60. Our local pub has 8. Should 4 be enough?

I know, it's not ideal, but I'm going for upbeat optimism right now, as I'm *really* looking forward to this weekend.

(I didn't know about the crackheads part? :D )

Hmmm, I have to say any if I went to a festival that had 60 real ales I'd expect it to be organised by Camra.

I suspect you and I have rather different expectations of festival. Still it's a tribute to Beautiful Days that it can accomodate both. I'll give the real ale bar a go, you never know they may even have something drinkable over 5%.

Can it though? Sounds like you're bemoaning the lack of being able to drink cooking lager under sparkly disco lights, while I sit in the field listening to skiffle punk with my ale.

oooh get you.

It seems to have worked ok for the last 7 years. Talking of skiffle punk did you see HJ & JD at Endorse-it last weekend. Right cheered me up on a chronic hangover that did, probably be the cooking lager I imagine.

Yup, and look forward to seeing them open this one. They were quite excited about it last year. They were told they could have a slot on the main stage this year as long as they didn't do any busking around the site last year. Strange terms, but there we are. And since they're on first, they can do whatever they like after that. :D

PS soz, mistakenly thought you were getting condescending there for a moment. And you mentioned camra, which is a swear word in our house. Truce?

Yeah, no worries its all good. Didnt know the 'c' word was a dirty word, theres clearly a sub-politics to ale drinkers I was previously unware of.

Weather forecasts are getting slowly better........

my brother has 2 spare tickets for this for which he'll take a piddling 50 quid each (or offers) - PM me or he's on dubversion AT gmail DOT com - move fast because he's off camping tomorrow and will be harder to reach

For those we have not told yet Kitty and I are now unable to go this weekend. Sadly there is no way around this and it is the fist time for years we are missing out. To say we are gutted is putting it mildly but what is done is done and we will be back next year with a new tent and cooler t-shirts.

Tickets are now going to waste - 2 x Adult Camping Tickets + Parking Pass

I would like to now get rid off of our tickets (cleared with the mods) as missing our favourite weekend of the year coupled with losing £234.75 is a pretty bitter pill to swallow.

I guess that there is NO WAY my two tickets will sell first with sparklefish offering £50 each (or offers) on the post above. I am not expecting to recoup the full £234.75 but they have been going for £250+ a pair on eBay. Contact sparklefish first and then me afterwards.

I will accept a fair offer from an Urbanite for these. They are listed all over the web for £215 which (without being greedy) I would prefer to get than a handful of magic beans. Although if you have something 'wacky to swap I am open to ideas on this also......?

For those of you that don't know me this is all genuine. I have receipts/records of the purchase made along with the recorded delivery stuff to my home address. If you wished to collect from my place in Brixton for peace of mind then this is fine. Equally I am willing to bring along the paperwork and meet you in a more suitable location. This would need to be in London or (nearby) surrounding area as we do not drive.

If we do get £ for these then a chunk will go to the server fund.
PM me to discuss or reply to this thread.

Cheers in advance
B&K

I don't understand it either!! :hmm: .. and I'm more or les a full time ale drinker meself ...

Stig, we have a slab of 'portable ale units' ;) that we're still bringing down for you, anyway ....

After early Friday morning anyway .... :(

Carol on BBC breakfast weather this morning said the track and intensity of Thursday night's/Friday morning's projected rain system was uncertain ... the rain might (she said) end up being lighter, but also possibly slower moving too, which is not so good -- it needs to bugger off Northwards to Wales and sharpish!

TBF prospects for later in the weeekend do seem better now, with only light/intermittant showers amid some sunny spells too -- according to Metcheck for Exeter.. but that page hasn't been updated yet ...

Just seen Badgers post above ... really really sorry that you and kitty can't make it man, I know how much you love this fest generally! I hope you're able to offload the tix anyway -- good luck. And see you next year ...

Paolo999 -- let us know your plans when you can ...

Cheers Willy of Wally. It is normally the highlight of our year (moan, blah, moan) but no way.

Who will you park next to this year?

Boo! That you can't make it Badgers : (

Will post your tix on the other forum I post on if you want? Also have you tried Scarlet Mist to offload? It's an "ethical" ticket exchange where tix are offered at cost price. No eBay fees or scummy tout type action.

Good luck!

The 2011 countdown starts soon, don't you worry.
Have had an email from a lass after the tickets so fingers are crossed.

Tickets now gone :)
Lost a bit on them but went to a nice couple for a fair price. They are BDs virgins and know of Urban (not members yet) so be good to them.

Oh well, roll on 2011 then....

Sorry to hear you're not going Badgers, must be pretty serious to have to miss this fezzie. Anway if its any consolation the weather forecast is utter shit.
