The details in that article are more horrific than I expected. I’m not sure I can finish it. I’m sickened, and it’s brought me to tears.

I often watch orangutan videos, and rarely read some of the comments - sometimes in amidst the declarations of love and joy there will be someone saying something really repulsive, and I’d just assumed it was a sorry basement fantasist trying to get a rise out of people. Discovering there’s an active ’community’ of people who do things like this, now I’m not so sure, and that’s a dreadful realisation.

I hope these people go to prison for a very long time for harming these innocent babies.

There was something in the guardian yesterday about people hurting and killing birds in this country and I felt dirty after reading it. So I read the first couple of paragraphs of the link in the OP and stopped. For me, hurting animals like that is around the worst thing someone can do, like torturing a child. Hanging is literally too good for them

Yeah, read it this morning and felt sick. Then had to call an ambulance for someone who collapsed twice and temporarily went blind. Then heard that another friend suffered a mini-stroke. Ffs, what a day.

Re monkeys, was sickened but not quite surprised. There are always violent psychopaths and if they do this to people, why wouldn't they do it to animals. Nasty as hell. Particularly sickening that one of the torturers only got 8 months in prison as it was the maximum sentence. The only hopeful thing here is that it might usher in tougher animal cruelty laws as this will set off people who don't normally care that much - the intentionality will make them worried that these criminals could 'graduate' to people.

I also suspect that some of the animal rescue videos where you see dogs starved to emaciation are operations where they've creating the problem, only to "solve" it for video views and donations. Just a hunch, though.

I think the only thing you can do with them is put them down. E2A I honestly can't see how they can be rehabilitated or trusted if they have descended to such vile levels of behaviour. You wouldn't want them to procreate because of what they might do to offspring, or how they'd treat their partners. E2A2 we know the world has too many people in it, and we have a small number of people without who the planet would cope admirably
