I think all of Heinlein, Tom Robbins, Vonnegut, Henry Miller, Bukowski.

Nobody serious or classical.

I nearly wrote down Vonnegut and Bukowski. But then I remembered that it wasn't me who has read all of their books, but my Beloved.

(Beloved.... wasn't that a book by Toni Morrison...?)

The Bandini Quartet. One long rage against life. A great read.

Yeah, Bukowski's easy, but I think maybe I just reached my limit.

Everything by Alfred Bester in standard print (which, to be fair, isn't that much)... I had read everything by Pratchett up to Night Watch. Can't think of any others off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are a couple more.

I read The Dark Side of the Sun and Strata. Then The Colour of Magic and about two other Discworld novels but I found them a bit unadventurous. No-where near as good as Adams who influenced his change of direction I am sure.

Yeah I just liked them for the easy reading factor... Reasonab;e storylines, some good funny bits etc.

The only authors I've made a conscious effort to do the lot of are Thomas Pynchon, Jorge Luis Borges, Bohumil Hrabal.

Sure there are others though.

Cormac McCarthy (well I haven't read The Road yet but have bought it and trying to wait til Christmas)

also
James Crumley
Chester Himes
Magnus Mills

Irvine Welsch.

I have all his books. The best of the bunch has to be Filth, although the Glue/Trainspotting/Porno stuff borders on genius

If people have really read all of Salinger then that's damn impressive. Some of his texts aren't even allowed to be published and reside in various US libraries, Texas and Princeton I think are two.

Off the top of my head...

Herman Hesse, & also Karl Marx (apart from some of Capital Vol. 3 & his letters), plus most of Lenin/Trotsky......

Ask the Dust is pure quality - dark and funny as f*ck. Nathanael West The Day of the Locust occupies a similar world and is just as dark and funny. Check it out if you haven't already.

everything in print by :

William Shakespear
Byron
J Austen
Dickens
Enid Blyton
Rev Audrey
Tony Buza
J Aurel
Beatrix Potter
Molly Brett
Stephen Hawkings -- only books, not scientific papers.
Arthur Ransome (couple of adult titles missing)
Silas Hocking... (about 5 titles missing)
Wordsworth (William)
Eric Carle
Helen Bradley
Agatha Cristie- coulpel missing possibly
David Eddings - may be one or two missing, but dont think so.
Kippling - completed... including "my son jack"

But then i dont have a life out of books do i... hardly surprising as i cant cope with the tv.

Hang on, why would they not be allowed to be published?

Because Salinger doesn't want them published. He's had legal documents drawn up preventing any mass production of certain works until seventy years after his death or something equally shit.

Ah, right, thought you meant the publishing house were hoarding them or they'd been banned or some such.

If borders are drawn in magic marker on a very small globe.
Though trainspotting is ok.

Only authors who haven't written that much. Flannery o'Connor, Truman Capote, Saki, Pierre Choderlos de Laclos (only has written twoo books), Pauline Kael, Edward Gorey and Tove Jansson
