Athletics

I've just had another look at our 3rd leg runner, Matthew Hudson Smith, and where his feet are when he starts his run. Not only is he well within the handover box, but there are two other athletes who are visibly further back down the track than he is as well as another two athletes who are in a comparable position. In other words, if Hudson Smith started running his leg too early then so did at least 4 other runners for that leg.

It's worth remembering that the last two handovers in the 4 x 400 relay are the easiest of all relay handovers. Lanes are no longer relevant with all athletes positioned in one big trackwide 20m handover box. Even Ryan Lochte couldn't balls it up.

One of the javelin guys has Darth Vader throwing a javelin tattooed on his back, right? It's not just me that saw that?

Wahey! Great 400 relay from our ladies. A stonking 3rd leg from Diamond who went from 5th to 3rd with Ohurougo keeping us there. Hopefully no disqualifications this time (wouldn't bet on it after 3 in the 5000m).

What a race!

If you discount the Americans and Jamaicans who must be cheating somehow ( ;) ), we've got the best female relay teams in the world!

Did anyone hear the womens' splits?

Crammy started, mentioning Eilidh Child's 52.4, but then he stopped....

No idea I'm afraid but the track and field commentary/punditry medal ceremony has taken place.

Gold medals for Steve Cram, Andrew Cotter and Michael Johnson. Silver Medals for Brendon Foster, Steve Backley, Gabby Logan, Paula Radcliffe and Phil Jones. Bronze Medals for Denise Lewis and Colin Jackson. Jonathan Edwards was disqualified.

Mens Marathon in a minute. A shame about the course. Will any competitor die of boredom before completing the squillionth loop of the eight-lane highway?

Rupp is a dark horse here, no one knows how good he is at Marathons because he hasn't done any international ones yet.
