All films in date order

Is there a way of getting a list on line (via idmb maybe) of all the films ever made in chronological order?

In all honesty I'm fucking struggling again and the escapism of old films is really helping.

I want to work my way through all the old black and whites I haven't seen.

Any ideas?

This is a handy page from wiki.

you can go to advanced search on imbd and then pick 'browse titles by year' :)

If any of you like old films and get to see 'The Old Dark House' 1932 then do watch it. I was amazed by it. Like watching a stage farce but on film and so well acted.

This is not possible as not all films ever made are available. Also, whilst IMDB has lots of films, I dont think it is a complete list of every feature film ever made.

I guess I want to try and get as much of a definitive list as I can.
I just want to know what's available iyswim?

IMDB is probably too vast a list to start from and sift through.

If you were to start with US films, the AFI Catalog would be a good place to start. Not sure how searchable it is to non-members. I'm no longer a member but can still search so it might be open to all. Can sort by year if you want. Unfortunately it won't tell you if the film is available though.

If you haven't already seen it, check out Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard in The Cat and the Canary. Wonderful film.

I've been going through several "top 100s" of films and I have mostly seen well over 70% of stuff.

I do honesty want a definitive list. British, forgein language, silent, etc.
I can pick and choose from what I have not seen.

The BFI website used to have a British guide but seems to have expanded it a bit to show others.

For instance, it claims to bring up a list of 1,835 items (films?) from 1942 when clicking on 1942. Presumably if you find a film from another year, you can get a similar list

1835 films just from 1942? I see what you mean
Still, I want to know.

As explained before, a definitive list does not exist. The IMDB is probably the closest thing you are going to get.

The AFI are still working through catalogueing all US films. I imagine the BFI would have a fairly definitive list of all British films. Presumably other countries' film bodies may have catalogued theirs but I doubt all have.

No, thank you.
I understand what you mean.
Thanks for your help :)

Currently working my way through Time Out's top 100 horror films, the ones I haven't seen or can't remember if I have seen or not
Some crackers indeed

Fucking fabulous film. :D

I know.
Badgers picked me up a copy of the book from a book stall he passed on his way home.
It looked oldish but inside was written "too Kathy 1945" :)
Oh and it was 50p :D
