There will be plenty of options in January. Absolute bargains if you don't mind 'all inclusive' package stuff. Best time of year, because everyone and everything is thinking about summer.

I thought Cape Verde was going to be cheap but had a shock when I saw some prices on expedia. I can't hack sitting on a beach for 7 days but I want the option to do that plus see a few sights and do some walking.

If you just want 'sun, anywhere' search by price not destination.

the sunday times had an ad for AI in Kerala IIRC last week in january for 799 quids 5* - alot of money if you are looking for a cheap break but if you look at it the other way at around £120 @ day including flights and all you can eat, its not bad.
